General Description-
Polished is the most common word to describe Genevieve D'aubigne, that and tasteful. Aware of the importance of appearance, the young socialite makes sure she is in fine form before being seen. Natural chocolate brown hair falls in think waves down her thin shoulders. It is usually styled to frame her face, or flowing down her back. Sometimes, when the occasion warrants it, her hair is styled in a simple yet elegant up do. However her hair is styled, it is usually orderly. Blunt bangs draws attention to her large, oval eyes the blue color of wand light. Many people have commented on how arresting her eyes are, especially their odd shape. While many people have blue eyes what makes hers stand out a bit more is how round they are. Her more unimaginative suitors have said her eyes are as round as a full moon. She also has a lot of eye lashes. Thick though they may be, long they are not and they tend to curl which makes them look even shorter.
Possessions-
An extensive wardrobe filled with one of the kind, vintage pieces. Gen is very fond of clothes but tends to stay away from trends. Dresses are her favorite piece of clothing and she has at least a hundred ranging from short frocks to long ball gowns. While colorful, her garments are tasteful with a certain charm about them. Many of her clothes have been found in second hand stores and altered to fit her mood. A few of her more favorite items first belonged to her grandmother. She has a tendency to keep her clothes for many years and loathes to throw her clothing away unless it is too worn for wear.
Jewels passed down from her both her mother’s side of the family and her father’s. Many are old heirlooms dating back to the rise of the family lines. Her favorite is a delicate ivory cameo on a thin chain. She’s had to sell a few of the pieces in recent months.
A delicate brush and comb set dating back from the Victorian era. Her mother had given it to her on her seventieth birthday. It was the last gift she had given Gen before she died.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes-
Genevieve is a private person who projects this aura of calm self assurance to the world. She often appears tranquil and reserved rarely showing strong emotion in public while she may actually be seething inside. She understands the value of maintaining public appearances and saving face. Growing up in the political lime light has taught her the importance of appearing to be what people expect her to be. There is a quite charm about her and she can move quite effortlessly in crowds. She is a sweet, gentle person who does care for other people but has a tendency to place herself first. Many people believe her to be a flighty socialite who cares only about life’s entertainments. Expressing emotions, especially of the romantic variety is hard for her and she often comes across as frigid in romantic relationships. Really, she just is not sure about romance and is actually scared of it. Until recently, she viewed life as a game and tends to avoid routine. She’s always searching for new pursuits, rarely sticking with anything. She has a tendency to change her decisions repeatedly, which makes it difficult to make choices. While she has the capability to be a very smart person she is adverse to the actual learning process. She dislikes the labor of learning, although sometimes she will pursue a topic with vigor for a while. She can easily understand many things with just one or two explanations but often doesn’t take the time to complete things. Despite her dislike of formal learning she does have an ear for languages and accents. She has a tendency to "collect" phrases in different languages and often becomes more animated than usual when she meets someone who can speak another language. She's fluent in English and French. Can converse in German, Italian, Spanish and Bulgarian.
Alliance- her family
Alignment- chaotic netural
Strengths/Weaknesses-
Confidence: Genevieve is a very confident young woman, especially in public situations. She wears her confidence like clothing, and sometimes can come across as superior or cocky.
Conversing: There rarely is a subject that Gen will not attempt to talk about. She enjoys talking with people and while many do think because she has grown up with wealth that this means she will not talk to those "below" her station, it isn't true. Once past her initial wariness, she is an eloquent speaker and can talk with people at their level.
Indecisive: It is difficult for Gen to make decisions and in this one area, show that she isn't as confident as she appears. Often times she seeks advice for what should be decided. It could take her hours to decide some things because she is researching every possibility. For the most part this is for big decisions and only sometimes does she agonize over where she'll eat or what to wear.
Bossy: Her direct demeanor can come across as bossy. She has a tendency to tell people to do something rather than ask them to do it.
Money: She's afraid of being poor. All her life she has had more than enough at her finger tips. Now that finances are tight and she's the guardian for her five younger siblings she worries.

History-
Genevieve D'aubigne is the oldest child of two very ambitious people. Her parents both came from well known wizarding families with ties to politics. More than one person in her family went on to become Minister of Magic. Her parents met in their twenties when her French father decided to practice international wizarding law in England. Her mother, was barely nineteen, studying to be a lawyer when she met the charming twenty four year old Lucien D'aubigne. For two years they flirted and worked together, sometimes going on a few dates. They slowly fell in love and eventually decided to get married. It was an advantageous match, even making the daily prophet. Together, they were going to rise in the wizarding world and make a difference. Children were not in their plans in the immediate future. Four months into their marriage they realized that the flu they thought Rosalind was having difficulty overcoming was actually their young baby making it's presence know. All of a sudden they were expecting a child.
At first it was a little hard to wrap their head around. They had tired not to have children so their plans would not be affected. Both, Rosalind and Lucien had parents who were more into their jobs than their children. They did not want to be the same kind of parents, but neither did they wish to give up all of their ambitions. The globe trotting young lawyers decided to settle down in France, where Lucien had been offered a very lucrative position in the Ministry. They had just settled into their town house when Genevieve was born. She was a sweet, happy but rather shy baby. Her parents loved her and tried very hard to be good to her. They were young though and still politically minded. Her mother went back to work part time when Gen was a toddler. Gen had a happy childhood. She never wanted for much and was often treated like a little adult rather than the small child she was. Her parents expected a lot of her but if she didn't whine or throw tantrums she was allowed certain privileges, like staying up a half hour later to have "drinks".
When she was six her father ran for a political position on the international confederation of wizards. A myriad of parties and social events were held in an attempt to gain support of the people. Genevieve often accompanied her parents, sometimes being the only child there. Many people remarked how well behaved she was. She was a bit shy, but often found herself conversing with different people. She learned quickly that some people did not like inquisitive children always asking the question why. It did not stop her from asking questions though. It was at one of her parents parties that she first learned the fun of other languages. She already knew English and French, because her parents spoke it but one of the guests was an elderly gentleman from Germany. She thought his accent funny. The unlikely pair struck up a friendship and Gen was always asking what different words meant in his language. She liked the sounds the voice could make.
As Gen grew older, her parents took her on trips around the world. Several times a year they would visit Rosalind's family in England. It was during these trips that Gen found a love for travel. She had a rather short attention span and was always looking for something knew. Traveling gave her an outlet, to learn and see new things.
In England, Gen struck a friendship with her Great Uncle on her mother's side. He was a grumpy wise old man who's greatest love was designing Qudditch brooms. The old man took a liking to the far too serious child who spoke like a grown up at the age of seven. He was always trying to make her laugh, make her behave like a little girl. As Genevieve grew older, her uncle became worried about her and that tendency of hers to never stick with anything. He died when Gen was twenty one and in his will, gave her the Qudditch business, thinking that it would settle her down. Gen had been in America at the time of his funeral. She learned of the will but at that time did not take control of the business left to her. Instead, she allowed her uncle's manager run the shop until recently.
Genevieve was nine when her mother had another "surprise". Sebastian James was born not long after. This time around her parents vowed to raise him more like a kid than a mini adult. They had learned some things with raising Gen. By that time her parents were older, more responsible and their lives stable. At first Gen wasn't all that thrilled about having a little brother. Several of her friends had younger siblings but there wasn't such a large gap. Except for his crying there wasn't much of a change to her life. She still had to learn the piano, parties were held etc. When Sebastian was one their parents decided to adopt a boy near his age as a companion. At the time there was a scandal going on about wizarding orphans or neglected children were being sold to muggle orphanages. Her parents were instrumental in the investigation and during that time they met a teenage mother who was thinking about giving up her little boy. The D'aubigne's decided to adopt the little half blood. And when the same mother came to them six months later saying that she was pregnant again they adopted Alex's little sister Abrielle. When Abri was five she wanted a friend her own age. Alex and Seb were close, although they fought a lot. She found a little girl wondering the neighborhood and brought her home. Abrielle tried to hide the girl in her closet but was found out when she tried sneaking some of her dinner up to her room. Chantee Marie was soon adopted into the family.
Genevieve was much older than her siblings but she loved them just the same. She tried to show them things, like how to play the piano, or what color went with what fabric the best. Still, she felt a bit distant from her siblings. Sebastian was barely two when she went off to school and they had just gotten Alexandre.
School was a grand adventure for Gen. she loved all of the activities she could participate in, the different people etc. What she didn't like was having to do all of that reading. It was a challenge for her to sit still long enough to get the words on the page to focus. She loved hearing stories but reading them was something she didn't like. She also didn't get the purpose of having to write about a spell when one could just practice it. she was a smart child but she tended to learn by doing rather than reading or writing essays. Her marks were not as strong as her parents would have liked and she did try hard sometimes.
when she was thirteen her father became the wizarding ambassador to England. For the next couple of years she would spend all of her holidays in England where her family was living. It was rather boring. Why couldn't her dad be the ambassador to Spain or something? She'd been to England so many times it was rather dull to her. As the Ambassador's daughter more attention was paid to her and a small article appeared about her and her family in Witch Weekly. Many people wondered if she'd attend Hogwarts because of where her family now resided. It was decided that Gen would continue her education in France. That decision was made partly to the fact that summer Gen was starting to get a large head over the attention and her summer gig as a fashion model. Her mother believed that if she went back to France where she was just a little girl with rich parents and not the Ambassador's daughter she would lose her attitude.
For the most part, Genevieve was a thrill seeker in school. Although, she did not like flying. After falling off a broom when she was nine she refused to touch a broom stick again. Fast paced sports were not her thing. she was far more into fashion, art, music etc. Her school years were rather uneventful she went to parties etc. When she was sixteen her family returned to France and her father was elected the deputy prime minister. More parties ensued and she often attended parties with her parents. When she was seventeen her mother became pregant again. It was a difficult pregnancy and Rosalind died in childbirth. It had been quite a shock. One minute, Rosalind was smiling laughing, a youthful 38 and then the next she was dead, pale and lifeless. It was a miracle the baby survived. Little Emilee London was born a light three pounds. Her needs were more than a half elf could handle and the daughter of a family friend came to help out. Gloria had left school a few years before and was studying early childhood development when she heard the D'aubigne's needed help.
By the time Genevieve graduated Gloria had moved in. At first, it was for the "sake of the children" but Gen was suspicious of her old schoolmate. Plagued by the memories of her dead mother and feeling unneeded by her family, Gen left on a tour of the world. At first, she visited every few months and wrote to her siblings often. A year later her father announced that he was retiring from politics. Gen returned to find Gloria wearing a ring on her left hand and a smug smile. Genevieve was furious. Her mother was dead not even two years and already her father was remarrying. But this shell of a man was not her father. Lucien had aged in the time his eldest had been a way. Angry, Gen left again this time not to return until news of her father's death reached her.
She hadn't even known he was that ill. It had been some time since anyone had seen Lucien. Once he married, he saw little of his old friends. Even his children did not see much of him. Shocked that her once strong father was dead, Gen returned home. Everything was a shamble. After her father was buried the solicitors arrived to read the will. It had not been what she had expected.
Apparently her father had given everything to his wife but Genevieve was her siblings guardians. The thousands of gallons, the investments, the property all belonged to Gloria. Still the children had their trust funds which they could not access until they were seventeen, and only partially. Only Gen had accessed to her money and even that amount had been reduced because her father could no longer support her lavish lifestyle. Gen hadn't even realized that her father had decreased her yearly 500 galleons to 250 last year. She'd been exploring in Greece at the time and hadn't really needed all that much money. Furious, Gen tried to fight the will, proclaiming that her father had been spelled. The layers assured her tests had been run, spells performed to make sure when this will was authorized that it was not cohered. A few months shy of her twenty four birthday, Genevieve found herself the guardian of five children. It was ridiculous. she loved her siblings but she didn't know how to take care of them. Merlin, what could she do? She was a twenty four year old débutante whose only talent was talking. She had never held down a real job before and spent the last seven years exploring the world instead of working.
Then she remembered. She had money. Sort of. She'd inherited that shop in England from her mother's uncle. Flynn. Gen found the old will and cursed. In order to receive that inheritance she'd have to manually take over the shop herself. She couldn't sell it or she'd lose the 2 thousand galleons. If she managed the store herself for three years and turned a profit in that time period she'd receive the money. Her run a store? A Qudditch store. She had no idea how to run a business let alone something to do with a sport she knew little about. Her brothers thought it quite funny though. she little miss perfect on a broom would be quite a sight. they warned her not to wear silk. But she had to do it because she would not allow Gloria to raise her siblings.
Now, Genevieve has found herself back in England trying to run a business she knows nothing about. The storefront is only a small part of what her uncle did and while she does have a few of his remaining staff to assist her, the general manager just quit and her inventor was a mere apprentice when her uncle died. She moved her entire family into the small apartment above the shop in diagon alley. Despite it being magically enlarged it is still rather small. The boys share one bed room and her three little sisters share the other. Genevieve sleeps on a fold away bed in the small living room that also serves as the dining room. It is a far cry from the lavish ten bedroom town house she was born in. Merlin help her. She's trying to adjust to everything but it is difficult. This time last year she was painting sun sets in Chile and eating rich foods. Now she's chasing after fussy toddlers and making her teenage brothers stop beating each other to a bloody pulp.
