Name: Cain Elias Pierce
Age: 23
Birthdate/place: [01-09-1997] Floating Harbour, United Kingdom
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Family: An average family, the Pierces are purebloods. He is the oldest child by a few minutes, his twin sister was born only five minutes after him. They have a younger sister, Cari, who is a fifth year in Hogwarts. Cari is seven years younger.
Appearance:
Build/height- 5’10”, he is built on a medium frame and while not lean, is not chubby either. He’s just average.
General Description- Not a large person, he nevertheless gives that impression with his enthusiastic actions, he seems to take up space that he doesn’t really. His hair is medium length and a dark golden blonde, combined with his blue eyes, he’s considered quite handsome. He is clean-shaven almost obsessively. He often wears jeans or slacks along with a shirt of some type. He doesn’t wear robes and prefers to dress casually.
Current Description- Cain is thin and emaciated, his hair is coarse and has turned white in some places, and in the rest is yellow. It is long and grows down his back in limp strands. His eyes are tired and seem more grey than blue with each day that passes. Cain sports a rough beard and moustache and is dingy and dressed in worn jeans and t-shirt. He looks tired and worn, and he is.
Possessions- He shares a flat with Alex, which has the furnishings/belongings of the typical 23 year old male and various other personal items.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes- Cain is a vibrant and outgoing personage, everything he does is loud, enthusiastic, and wholeheartedly animated. He makes friends easily, and even people who have merely a passing acquaintance with can’t help but feel as if he’s one of their close friends. He seems to draw vitality from a group, he’s rarely alone, in fact being alone seems to bring him into a depressive state of mind.
Cain is, by nature, a very protective person. He can be overwhelming at times, during such times in their childhood Caleigh would usually punch him, a reminder that he did teach her to take care of herself. He’s left-handed, and taught Cal to fight with her fists as well as her wand.
Cain does everything in his aforementioned enthusiastic way. His emotions are not hard to analyze, he makes no efforts to hide his feelings, but he does make efforts to keep them in control. He sometimes had problems with this as a child, his temper was very quick then, but since then he has grown up, learning productive ways to express it.
After certain incidents in his past, Cain has a darker turn of mind. He swore to his sister that he would never use Dark Magic again, but he has used it more and more often in the past year since his return to London. He is more unpredictable than usual, a statement that says much, due to his naturally chaotic personality.

History-
Cain was born a healthy, husky baby. He arrived a mere three minutes before his sister, it was like the twins couldn’t bear to be parted. And it has been that way ever since. The twins were so close in appearance as young children that it was often hard to tell them apart. They had the same blue eyes and the same shaggy blonde hair.
Cain’s childhood is entangled with his sister’s, to tell one’s story is to tell the other’s, from a different point of view. Cain’s magic manifested early, in the small chaotic ways that wizarding children were prone to show their heritage, and which made home schooling a must for them. Cain was home schooled, his mother was a writer and a homebody, she loved her children and ‘her place’ in the home.
He has gotten into some scrapes in his childhood, accidents or incidents that resulted in cuts, scrapes, abrasions and gashes. He was as rowdy and quick tempered as any boy. He learned to fight as all boys do, jostling for positions among their peers. But unlike most boys, he was more than willing to hang out with his sisters, for he now had a second sibling, Cari, who was born seven years after the twins.
The lessons they learned from him were not so much structured as the rough-and-tumble grab-as-you-can lessons of children. And the lessons he learned from them were respect and gentleness. If he was too rough, they ganged up on him, typical of sisters. It was a happy childhood.
When the twins received their Hogwarts letters, the level of excitement in the house could not be measured. They travelled to Diagon Alley by Flue, where they acquired their school supplies. And then it was off to school!
The new generation of Pierces, I see. A long line of Gryffindors. Many of you have passed under my brim. What’s this? You have a twin? Very interesting indeed, Mr Pierce. Two of you to sort. You certainly are bold enough for Gryffindor, daring, with the need to protect others.
And yet, what’s this? A strong intelligence, a drive to learn. A thirst for knowledge and its power. How puzzling. What to do with you… ah! Indeed, you can only be
RAVENCLAW!
And Cain was sent from the stool to his new housemates, vaguely puzzled. Was the Hat capable of making mistakes? He was supposed to be in Gryffindor, the house of his family. He smiled for his housemates, a grin that fell short of his eyes when he heard the Sorting Hat call
“GRYFFINDOR!!”
He turned, meeting eyes with his twin. Separated for the first time. Surely it must be a mistake! But despite his reservations, he swiftly fit into his new house. He grew and thrived, and he made new friends, in particular a quiet boy named Alex, a pureblood like himself. The Kamerens were Slytherins, every one, until it came to this thin and pale boy with his books. Cain swiftly became the best of friends with the older first year, and determined to drag him to every activity.
The summer passed quickly, and when they returned to Hogwarts, Cain found a profound change in his friend. It was no mystery why -- the Pierces were hardly isolated, and the news had been a continuing highlight in the boring summer -- splashed all over the newspapers. Alex was different that year, more stand-offish, but Cain and Cal were hardly put off. The trio certainly got in enough scrapes that school year, many fuelled by Alex or Cain’s temper.
Cain became more interested in DADA as the years at school passed, and even in the magic it was meant to combat. For didn’t one need to know what was being fought, in order to fight it? He started to drift from his old friends, pulled by a fascination with the Dark Arts. Even Alex pulled apart, refusing to have anything to do with something that had held such fascination for his father.
It was a dark few years for Cain, and it culminated in him nearly killing himself and his twin, in an accident that left his arms and hands heavily scarred from burns. He doesn’t talk about it, but it was the turning point, that Christmas hols. He swore to his sister and Alex that he would no longer use the Dark Arts. He used the last year and a half of his schooling to study hard and get himself on track.
After Graduation, he and Cal headed to the States to learn and work. It was there that he learned to be a Cursebreaker, and there that his skills were perfected. After three years, there were several, instances, of dark wizard activity that drove him to move to DC where he continued to work for the American Ministry. After a year there the instances repeated themselves, driving him back to England with death and destruction behind.
He came back last fall to a world in chaos. He fit into the London Ministry like a hand in a glove, and it was Cain that provided the means, led by Alex, that freed the Head Auror from his curse. Of course, Cain wasn’t himself in the clear. It was shortly before Christmas.
And when I say shortly before Christmas, I mean it was December the 24th. Christmas Eve. Cain and Caleigh were excited, coming back from shopping. They had Max with them. It was probably the only warning they would have gotten -- the dog warned them. He fought beside his master, and he died for it.
In the end it did no good. The twins were kidnapped by the very same shadow lady who had captured Curse Kameren. Caleigh was no real use to them alone, but with Cain she made an excellent lever. Cain knew plenty of old Dark Magic, from his school days and more recent history, studying the spells in order to destroy them. It was not easy, being so close to the Magic, but he resisted wielding it.
And he refused to wield it for Scarlet’s group, refused to operate their stolen devices. But captivity takes its toll, and it was in May that Cain finally reached his breaking point. But he refused to work if Caleigh remained a captive. He traded his talents for her freedom. The Auror was released, weak but alive. And the Cursebreaker remained behind, studying the Objects stolen from the Ministry.
The Shadow-stealer, which pulled magic from others and supplied its wielder with all the magic they wanted, for themselves and others. It caused uneven pockets of Magic, out of deep polluted pools of which sprang demons that fed on what had given them birth. It dried up the magic of a region, or caused spells to go awry.
This device requires a lot of energy to use, and it drains any who use it over a long period of time. Cain has been working it for almost a year… he is bound to reach his limit soon. And then he will die. But not before destroying the Shadow-stealer, if he can.
