“Y’know, its only the U.K. that’s been afflicted with these creatures… Perhaps it has something to do with the rest of the strange occurrences, all that magic goin’ awry and all.” The Potions Master shook his head; he already knew that the creatures were in only this part of the world. He had sent out messages to wizards he knew outside the UK, and none of them had replied with similar findings. The strange creature problem was resigned only to the UK: yet another strange, unexplained thing about the phenomenon.
“I remember my Care of Magical Creatures textbook cover to back, there was nothing of the like in there. Now, on the other hand, I was never skilled at Defense Against the Dark Arts but that sounds like dark magic to me if anything ever did.”
"That sounds the most likely," Curse replied, taking a slight sip of his firewhiskey. He instinctively closed his right hand at the mention of dark magic. "The only trouble is I have no idea how it could be achieved. Even though they disappear, they're solid. They're skin and flesh and blood. They react humanly," the Professor's eyes flashed upwards when he thought uncomfortably about the creature's reaction to the poison in his veins, "and they die. I've never seen a living creature manifested only with magic. You can't shoot magic."
Curse took one last drink of his firewhiskey, placing the empty glass back down on the table. His emerald eyes moved for a moment from straight ahead of him to glancing quizzically at Nuriko. There was something obvious he was missing here. "Hold on a moment," Curse turned to the Ravenclaw, looking her up and down disapprovingly. "You're supposed to be back at the castle. No students are allowed out at night, its too dangerous." The Potions Master stood up from his stool, beckoning with his hand towards the door. "We need to get you back." He moved towards the door, peeking cautiously outside before stepping out into the night air once more.
