She was real. She was real and it was a difficult concept for his mind to wrap around at the time. The tears ran silently from his eyes as his fingers tightened spasmically around her hand, a grip that would not release easily. He closed his eyes, drifting on exhaustion as the drugs worked further into his system.
"Now, what's this I hear about suicide? Hm?"
He refused to answer that, merely opening his eyes slowly and focusing on her again. He couldn’t bear to let her go, his hand remained tight on hers. He’d already let her go once, no matter the consequences, he didn’t feel strong enough to let her go again. “You’re alive…”
“Mr Kameren?”
Alex turned with Curse, the nurse only took a moment to decide which Kameren was her target. Perhaps the Kamerens spent too much time in the hospital… She turned her best disapproving frown on Alex.
“Mr Kameren, Ms Pierce is requesting that we let you in…” She paused and started going through a long and obviously rehearsed speech about the patient’s condition and not disrupting his care or-- but Alex ignored her, nodding briefly to Curse, he let his brother know he’d be out as soon as possible-- and walked right past the irritated nurse and into the hospital room.

Stillness blanked the walls of the Magical Accidents ward on the first floor. A young witch dressed in the green robes of St. Mungo's staff was roaming the halls, checking on the few patients that had been admitted for observation. Nicknamed, the spells gone wild ward, most of the patients went home after several hours of reversal spells and reforming potions. To Elle, it was usually the same boring stuff, steam coming out of some body opening or another, a splenching, or misguided transformation that had gone ary. Routine. She was coming to find that while she liked healing, she wasn't all that into handling the mundane everyday mistakes that fully grown wizards did. More often than not it was an adult who attempted a spell above their ability level or was experimenting with strange magic that ended up in this ward. Of course there were children but the adults beat them by far. This of course could be the fact that many of the children who would do such a thing were corralled at Hogwarts but she didn't see as many stupid accidents when she volunteered there twice a week.
Elle had been about to go back to the nurses station to fill out reports when a harried nurse from the mental ward walked in and straight to Elle. Before the woman could open her mouth, Elle had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. Over the last year the hospital staff had nicknamed her the Kameren Mediator. It seemed that she was one of the few people who could actually get through to Curse Kameren and his injury prone family. During his time in the mental ward and subsequent visits Elle had become friends of sorts with the family. It probably was due to the fact that she had known his young broke Alex in school and had a small school girl crush on him.
The off duty nurse had stopped by to mention that the Kamerens were back after bringing in a friend of theirs and it would be lovely if Elle could stop by and convince Curse that he did indeed have to have a check up. Elle hid a smirk as she cleared her upstairs adventure with the full fledged healer on the floor.
It didn't take very long for Elle to reach the mental ward waiting room. Nor was it hard to spot the Kameren klan. The small form of Max was huddled in a chair while his protectors muttered in a corner. They were obviously talking about something serious. Elle slowly walked up to them, careful to make her presence known. She didn't want to appear to be eavesdropping on their conversation. Before she reached them, a nurse called Alex, showing him out of the ward and most likely into a patient's room. Elle walked up to Curse.
"Hello, I heard you were here. How's your friend?" She asked concerned, wondering if their appearance had anything to do with the magic hungry demons.

Curse stood next to Max's chair, now the only one in the hall. It was right that he stayed out, though; This was the Pierce's family. There was very little Curse could do for Cain at this point in time, but he knew Alex and Cal would be a help to him. He worried silently, watching Max doze in the chair.
"Hello, I heard you were here. How's your friend?" Curse looked up from Max to the new voice, smiling tiredly at the young healer. He should have known Elle would find them in the hospital. She was the main healer that tended to deal with the Kamerens when they entered the hospital, and in Curse's opinion, She was Mungo's only voice of reason.
He shrugged, his voice soft as he was still lost in his own thoughts. "I don't know, they're only letting family in at the moment. He's on suicide watch. I found him in Hogsmeade. Don't know what happened to him, but there are some things about him that seem too familiar..." He trailed off, his eyes glancing down towards Max once again. He hoped she knew what he meant by familiar. It wasn't that Curse was a madman, so he identified with madmen; she of all people would remember how Curse disliked most of the other patients, treating them with contempt early into his stay at the hospital. By familiar, Curse meant like him. This was the result of a curse, a poison, or something Curse hadn't thought of yet. Yet.
"I just hope there's something they can do for him," He frowned slightly, still focussing on Max as the child shifted in his sleep.

Cal bit her lip and gently wiped the tears off his face as he'd done for her so many times before. Gently her thumb rubbed the back of his hand as a small smile grew on her face and relief grew in the pit of her stomach. Sure he wasn't perfect, but she had Cain back and that was what mattered for her. At least, for now.
"Shh, I'm fine and I'm not going anywhere, now get some rest, alright? I'll be right here when you wake up." She said softly, brushing his dirty hair out of his face.
She turned as she heard footsteps entering the room and bit her lip. "Do you know what's happened, at all?" Cal asked. Alex was just like family for her, she counted on him just as much as she counted on Cain, but currently she was the only one who was holding out semi decently between all of them. This was just all overwhelming for her. All she knew was that Cain was back, and mostly whole. She had no clue what was going on and she hated being out of the loop. It killed her.

There had been something different about Curse Kameren's case that had always intrigued Elle. It had never been true insanity. It had taken the healers a while to realize, and even longer to come to terms, with the fact that it was a spell that affect Curse. Even now they wondered about it's origins. How magic could become so twisted it drove a person mad. Elle frowned as Curse told her about his friend Cain. It had taken her a second to garner his subtle message. Someone else was under a spell similar to Curse. Someone else was driven mad by magic.
"They'll figure something out." She pointed out assuredly. Quickly she pulled out her wand and summoned several blankets and handing them to curse.
"You'll be here a while. I suspect. If you ever need to talk I'm here." She whispered gently, wondering if together they could uncover what kind of curse or potion was at work here.
