Plotting!

Here's what we were talking about on Facebook....

mostly just expanding on what we were talking about earlier, with Cain going mad & Curse trying to help him by trying to find out what caused his madness & how to fix it. Curse knows the difference between someone who has madness in them (like him & Cedric), and someone who was driven to it. So in his looking for a way to help Cain, he gets pulled down the rabbit hole into the plans of Scarlet's Cult (we need to find a name for these guys), while he and possibly Alex if he's interested try to retrace Cain's footsteps.

Meanwhile, Scarlet's cult isn't staying quiet. They lost an operator for the stone, so they need to replace Cain. They track Cain to Hogsmeade, but Curse already got him out and hidden before they got there. To replace Cain, Scarlet takes a student. Obviously, this full-on assault on Hogwarts will shake up the student body and the teachers quite a bit, and get the Ministry on their guard. The Ministry could send someone over for extra 'protection', but in reality it's Harkness using another cult member from the Ministry to cover their tracks.

Of course this won't go over well with the school, especially the staff. There could be a lot of great room for controversy and action in there if we can get people to make the proper characters for it. That's just with the Kamerens and the school, but I've been trying to develop a few other things that involve the Ministry as well, specifically Mysteries. I'll send that over when I get it more hammered out, probably by tonight. I also want Scarlet's Cult to bring more to the table, which means we'll need to push evil characters a little harder when people are signing up.

I also want to do something with Max, but I'm not sure yet where he'll play a role in this. I might just give him a subplot that doesn't relate, with him dealing with the difficulty of adjusting to the wizard world and the trauma of realizing he has a father, then finding out that he won't have him for long. I've been enjoying rping getting Curse's affairs sorted out, so I'll probably continue that as a subplot.

Some of its irrelevant to the actual plot, but I had a couple back-up ideas too. They're really rough & need a lot of refining & detail, but here goes:

Mysteries somehow discovers a long lost prophecy that was addressed to someone now dead, so the spell blocking it is broken. When it is opened, it is revealed to be a doomsday prophecy saying that all wizard kind will be destroyed by Christmas of 2023.

Who's the student going to be taken? an NPC...or shall we have auditions...should their be an age requirement...do we want first years? Also, what are the requirements for operating the stone...could a first year like Eden do it?

I figured once we get active again, we could pick one of the students from someone who isn't a staff member to play an important role in the plot. Sorry, but Eden's been pretty involved already, so itd be best to get a different student.

There isn't really a requirement for the stone now that they know how to use it, is there? (dunno, Xav came up with it). I was thinking maybe they took a child because it runs on your potential energy, like the life you have ahead of you. Younger witch or wizard means stronger power, you know? Dunno, that one's up to Xav.

Yes, you're right. It steals the user's energy, its why Cain's so grey and weak. I think the idea of using a student, as well, but they can't be too young, or they might just die.

i was thinking between 4th-6th year, most likely. any older and they're too close to adults in my book, and the young kids couldn't handle it.

So, what we have:

Monsters that stalk magic-users in the dark and steal their magic-- leaving them 'squibs' if they're lucky, dead if they're not.

Some malicious group is causing much of the chaos and danger, what are their reasons? What do they hope to gain? What are they working toward?

The ministry is (unsurprisingly) infiltrated to an unknown degree and dangerous to trust.

Hogwarts is not as safe as it always was-- though still safer than much of the 'outside' world.

What are your ideas? (Yes, those of you still lurking as guests as well, we want your opinions, it is your plot, after all!

Eden's turning twelve on April Fools day. I want to do something special for her birthday...maybe have a party thread...or have her get in trouble etc...maybe everyone doesn't realize it's her birthday... I dunno something has to be done to mark this day.

Idea: What if this isn't the first time the demons have been unleashed on the magical world...perhaps they brought about the collapse of a magical empire a very long time ago...maybe there is evidence in ruins, artifacts etc left behind by the culture? Warnings for future generations. Maybe the department of Mysteries uncovers these warnings in a rune language? Thus begins a historical dig that requires the help of different departments including magical law enforcement...

Hmmm what if there is a rune that when worn by someone prevents the demon from seeing the person...it could be written in blood of the demons

I like the idea of a rune that hides a person from a demon. My favorite rune, which I wear on a pendant, is Mannaz, representing humanity. That might be a good one if you decide to go the rune route.

What if little Eden receives the rune in a box for her birthday. She has no idea who it's from or what it's for. She simply carries it with her without knowing of its importance. Fate lies in the hands of one small spirit.

Okay, maybe a little LOTR...

Who would give her this rune in secret?

hmmm i dunno who would give it to her...Maybe we could NPC Tor giving it to her? He was a seer who was her mentor...

Also i know poison kills demons but how else can you kill a demon? Where do they come from and can we send them back? Can we magically seal/send them away?

I'm just getting into all this, but first off I'd like to say that if you're looking for more baddies, I'd be happy to bring Mosrael into this.

The demons idea is a great way to stir up chaos, maybe there are some ancient spells that can stop demons more effectively than today's usual spells? Perhaps an old tome that is a compendium of ancient and forgotten spells?

Also, what is the focal point behind everything that's happening? Doom and destruction is awesome, but it needs to have a purpose, such as are they going to resurrect an ancient evil, maybe a powerful dark wizard/witch? Do they seek to rule the wizarding world and subjugate muggles?

Sorry if I'm stating what's already been discussed, please let me know if I'm stepping on any toes!

Scarlet/Mosrael turf war for who's the higher evil power. Scar's beasts versus Mos's influence. It's on.
Seriously.

But honestly, the really scary part of the current plot is that Scarlet has no point. She doesn't care about blood, doesn't want power. She just wants to make people suffer, because she's twisted that way. She wants to cause pain and destruction for pain and destruction's sake. She believes no one has lived until they've experienced loss. There are no motives, just raw chaos.

I'd like to do more threads, and gather more people who believe the way Scarlet does, to actually cause some mayhem. I remember we blew up Flourish & Blotts, but it didn't get far because we were about to start slowing down. Maybe we could do something like that again?

Mosrael wants power for two reasons, both influential power to control people, perhaps she has an aim for the ministry?? Also I'm tossing around the idea of her wanting magical power to 'fuel' or power the 'Shadowmask', an ancient relic that can do...something awesome, still in the planning stages hahah.

Let's do a thread where maybe Mosrael and Scarlet meet for the first time, maybe as opponents, then end up teaming together. Well, for them it's more like 'teaming' up as in waiting-for-the-right-moment-to-backstab XD

I'd like to bring Echo into the mix, since she's got experience with darklings, but maybe this new breed of demons is something even she hasn't seen before, so she decides to ally with the Order...but for her it'll take some convincing to work with other people.
