welcome to
SALEM WITCHES' INSTITUTE
american magical school, post potter
Salem Witches' Institute has always has its own
problems, but never anything that couldn't be handled
by their own. That was before Martha Roderic was appointed
Headmistress. She had seemed like a good choice; she was an
aging witch who taught Arithmancy. Once in power, however,
she went on a tirade. She believed that the school was entirely
too lenient. She set about laying down an iron fist of rule within
the school that lasted almost six years. Roderic was removed from
power halfway through the school year in 2007.
But the damage was done. The school body had been abused and
many students had been removed from classes to be schooled
elsewhere. Those that remained, were mistrustful of the
administration. Inquiries were made by a board appointed
by the Secretary of Magic, and more than half of the faculty
and staff of Salem were removed from their jobs. A full year
, this took, of the school standing without a headmaster while
repairs were made to policies and staffing. Then Carolina
Cruz-Lakshmi was appointed Headmistress, with two Deputies
added as support and to provide balance. They have provided a
tempering sort of administration while changes are still being
made at the school.
Outside of Salem, the world begins to look like a darker place.
One of the policies Roderic had made even more strict had
been separatism from muggles. This caused a counterculture
to grow out of the repression, a group of witches and wizards
who think that its time to come out to the muggles as magic
users, that its time.
Unfortunately it appears to not be that time. After one large
demonstration group revealed the existence of magic, and
before the government agencies responsible for the secretism
of magic could get to them, many of them were killed by
vigilante muggle groups. It's like a modern day witch hunt
out there. .
