Name: Jack Ryan Harkness II, but he goes by Ryan. Not Junior. Never Junior.
Age: 20
Birthdate/place: 05 - 17 - 2001
Species: Wizard
Gender: Male
Family:
Annie Joyeux - 49, Halfblood. Mother.
Jack Harkness - 50, Muggle-born. Father.
Kendra Harkness - 21, Squib. Sister.
George Harkness - 15, Half-blood. Brother.
Annie Harkness - 13, Half-blood. Sister.
Matt Black - 22, Pure-blood. Boyfriend.
Jack Ryan Jack Russel (called JR) - 2, Dog
Appearance:
Build/height- Ryan is built much like his namesake, average height at 6'0" exactly with a slightly stocky build. He's fit and muscular, however, as he is a bit of a fitness nut. Most of his strength lies in his arms and torso, and is visible there. He also has strong hands, with calloused fingers and bitten-down fingernails.
Ryan's skin is a slightly pallid color, mostly due to the fact that he works largely indoors. He has a strong jaw like his father, and a rather serious way of carrying himself, contrary to his true demeanor. His hair is dark and wavy, though he keeps it cut short. He has straight teeth, and a rather infectious, playful smile.
Dark brown eyes are often hidden behind Ryan's thick-rimmed glasses. He hates wearing glasses, and often neglects them when he can get away with it.
Possessions- Ryan and his boyfriend Matt live together in a studio flat in the Chelsea district of London, living a domestically muggle life. He has most things a 20-year-old wizard needs, but his most prized possession is a vintage typewriter, gifted to him when he was 17 by his mother. He does most of his writing on it, though he has more advanced technology for writing that he ignores.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes-
There are two very different sides to Ryan: the side he shows the public, and the side he shows only to his loved ones.
On the surface, Ryan is an outgoing, outspoken young man, unafraid to be who he is and step up for himself and his loved ones. He is headstrong and stubborn, and gets belligerent when he doesn't get his way. Though he can be confrontational in disagreements, when in positive situations Ryan is laid-back and friendly. He has a quick wit and an easy smile, and charms people rather easily. He has a talent for politics, like his father, but doesn't express an interest.
In solitude, Ryan is a very different person. He's a bit more reserved and hesitant, especially when putting himself out there in his writing. Writing is how Ryan expresses himself, everything from prose to poetry to columns to lyrics . It's in his writing that his true self is expressed, how he feels and how he sees daily life. To his loved ones when he is this calmer, more reserved Ryan, he is quiet. He is more sincere when he speaks, tending to leave his quips for the outside world. He feels safest like this, with his loved ones. It allows him to open up, be more honest.
In a partner, Ryan looks for a certain amount of bull-headedness in itself. He likes having a challenge, someone to debate. Words are his medium, after all; without someone to share them with he would be lost. Before he had Matt he shared with his family, which he still does with Kendra or his father.
Ryan holds a close relationship with his entire family, including his large extended family and the children of Harkness House, his grandparents' orphanage. He loves his family members unconditionally, and is loyal to his loved ones to a fault.

History-
Jack Ryan Harkness II was brought into the world one May day a few years after the Battle of Hogwarts, a war fought by both of his parents. Jack Harkness the first and his wife Annie were sweethearts from back at Hogwarts, marrying after graduation and starting their family young. Jack is the second eldest sibling and the eldest son, and was followed by other siblings as he grew older.
The Harkness family was raised well by their parents, being raised to be confident, well-rounded and kind children. Ryan was always close with his siblings, and over time closest with his father and his sister Kendra as he matured. His parents' magical blood somehow skipped over Kendra, but came back strong in Ryan, and he was soon sent to Hogwarts.
The beginning of Hogwarts for Ryan, and mixing with his own Wizarding peers, marked a change inherent in him. When he had once been a sociable and happy child, he soon be came reserved and timid. He retreated into himself, for some reason feeling different among the other students. Though he excelled in classes, he suffered socially. He was fighting a part of himself, and how he was raised conflicted with the pressure society put on him. Ryan retreated into himself, afraid of what being true to himself would do to impact his family.
It was when he retreated inside of himself that he found writing. Unable to speak out physically, he did it with the written word. It was in writing he could be truly honest with himself. In writing, he could gain the confidence he had had when he was younger, before he started to question. It was there he earned the confidence to come out to his family.
Ryan's trust in telling his family about his homosexuality was rewarded, as they were supportive and still stood behind him. He decided around his sixth year that writing was his passion. He began internships during his spare time in his seventh year at Hogwarts, also starting and editing the Hogwarts Gazette student newspaper, which is still being run today.
After Hogwarts, Ryan's father got him a temp job at the Department of Magical Cooperation, hoping he might take an interest in it. It proved dull for Ryan, however, and he started bringing his writing portfolio around to other companies. The Daily Prophet picked him up as a columnist, and he started writing his own novella in the mean time.
Last year his first novella, Blue Morning came out to great acclaim. It was at a book signing that he met Matt. Matt had worked a variety of odd jobs as well, and was a cashier at the book store where he was signing. Ryan and Matt had a spark to their conversation from the start, and after the signing decided to see each other that evening. They've been seeing each other ever since.
Now, Ryan is doing more writing, working on his highly anticipated first full novel. He's living in Chelsea with his boyfriend, and spending as much time as he can with his younger siblings. Since his parents' split, he tries to have individual one-on-one time with each sibling, as well as visit with his parents. Strange things have been happening with the new Minister Harkness, and Ryan has been secretly wondering. Whatever happens, though, Ryan will stand by his family. Whatever happens.
