In the end, it was the hospital food that did it.
The bland, boring food was the final straw to Ralin's growing impatience and frustration. When he should be resting, regaining his strength, he was filled with nervous energy. While everyone else was out there in the middle of things, working to find Max, to fight Mosrael, Ralin was stuck here in the hospital eating mashed carrots!
Ralin flung his fork across the room and put the tray aside, sighing deeply. He didn't want to admit it, didn't want to acknowledge the gnawing fear inside, but he had to know where Theo was. He suspected the man was in the thick of the war, following his heart to what was needed despite anyone else. But where? He also had a promise to keep to Max. Ralin would find the boy and bring him back safely if it was the last thing he did. It already almost had been.
He had to admit, it hurt him that here he was, in the hospital with a knife wound after dying - or close to it, and his brother wasn't there. He hadn't been at the battle either. But that was selfish thinking. Ralin shook his head. The mediwizards had patched him up fairly well, but the hole in his chest was taking too long to heal.
So, when the nurse came in to change the bandages, Ralin was already making plans. He winced as he saw the mess of his torso, the torn and bloody flesh despite the spells holding it together, urging skin and muscles to knit together. It was this blasted weakness that bothered him the most. Once his chest was securely wrapped again, Ralin pretended to take the sleeping medicine, and once he was alone, climbed out of bed.
Once the room stopped spinning, the young man got dressed and snuck out the door. It was hard work, and he had to stop and rest often, but finally he made it to the nearest fireplace, focusing on his destination. Theo's home.

FWOOSH
The flames in the Harkness study fireplace turned green and spat out a short red-haired lad. Dusting himself off, Ralin made for the nearest chair and collapsed into it. After this he was stopping in Diagon Alley for some strengthening potions and a new wand.
"Theo? Jack? Anyone home?"
