ooc: The wedding of Curse Kameren and Arianna Blackthorn! This is more or less open to anyone interested in attending. This should be an enjoyable rp. ^^
ic:
"Dad!" A small child's hands pushed at Curse Kameren on the futon they had slept on. Max and Curse had spent the night at Curse's mother's, Violet's, apartment in preparation. After all, it was bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding. "Dad get up! Alex is coming soon and we have to get ready!"
With another hearty shove from his son, Curse's green eyes opened. "Hmmg, yes, I know..." He rolled onto his back and sat up, swinging his long legs over the side of the futon. Max was already wearing half his tuxedo, the bowtie slung haphazardly around his neck. He could hear Violet in the kitchen behind them bustling back and forth.
"Get up! Take your potions and let's go! Can you tie my bowtie?" Max was running on all engines today, chattering away about the wedding. As Max chattered, though, Curse could feel anxiety in the pit of his stomach. This was a day that had been years in the making. He and Arianna were finally getting married. Vowing to love each other for a lifetime. Somehow, he knew he would find a way to mess this up. He was a lucky man to have her, but could he really do this to poor Arianna?
"Kris, Max, get up lazy bones!" Violet bustled into the living room, a grin on her face. She held a platter with breakfast on it, setting it on Curse's lap as she sat next to him on the futon. Max snatched a slice of bacon and tucked in. "Eat up, dear, big day! John and Georgie are coming in on the train later today, and I think Elizabeth will be coming with her latest boyfriend."
This was almost as special an occasion for Violet as it was for Curse; though Curse saw Violet often, she rarely got the opportunity to have both her blood-children in London with her. They were both much older than Curse, but he had always gotten along well with them and invited them to the wedding as a part of his muggle family. The ceremony was being held in the Muggle World, as both bride and groom had muggle families. The reception would be in the Wizarding World, with all their magical friends invited.
Curse put the tray aside, quickly embracing his adoptive mother as he stood and stretched. He rustled Max's hair as he knelt for his night bag. He pulled out a series of bottles and vials, unstoppering and downing them in a specific order; his medicine was very important today, lest he be putting a ring on Arianna with shaky fingers.
"Thanks for letting us stay here for the night, Violet," Curse smiled at his mum, replacing the vials and putting them in the bag. With their home in Godric's Hollow still in the early phases of construction, Curse and Max had been staying in Arianna's tiny apartment, but they had to get away for the wedding.
Violet nodded, smiling sweetly as she shoved a plate of breakfast into his hands. "Tuck in! Quickly, you have to start getting ready!"

Finally, after a millennial of thwarting humanity, hell had finally frozen over. The fact that there was a Kameren-Blackthorn wedding was proof enough. Still not convinced? Arianna Blackthorn was allowing her father to give her away. Her birth father. A man, until recently she hadn't spoken a word to since she'd turned sixteen. Still a bit dazed by it all, Ari herself couldn't quite believe that she had started along the path of reconciliation with her father. All because of Curse and his traditional tendencies. The man had scoured the muggle world for her father. Asked him for permission to marry his daughter and then urged him to contact her.
Arianna had been furious when Curse told her what he had done. After her initial bought of temper though she was extremely grateful. She really was lucky to have such a caring man in her life. After all they had been through he still wanted to marry her. It wouldn't be easy. They both were slaves to their professions, and then there was his illness. Neither knew how long Curse had left to live but it would be enough. It would be pointless not to live the time they had left. Besides, he was healthy for now. The present was what mattered.
Soon, Arianna Dream Blackthorn would no longer exist. Legally. Just because she would legally change her name, didn't mean that she suddenly turn into a different person. She wasn't Cinderella's pumpkin coach. But in other ways she felt like Cinderella or at least a fairy tale princess.
The restless bride had woke up before the sun rise, unable to sleep. A torrent of thoughts and emotions sent her body trembling. A part of her wished she could close her eyes and be kissing Curse. Wal La. Done. May I present Mister and Mrs. Curse Kameren.
Pop. Nope, her gaze took in the pale blue walls of her Aunt's guest bedroom. The room that had been hers all those summers she had spent with her cousin Peter. Who incidentally was married to her soon to be step son's mother. Funny how interconnected the world was.
Since the wedding was to be in the muggle world, Ari had opted to stay at her Aunt's. It was much easier than staying alone in her apartment, or cram her Aunt in there. Besides, it smelled of Curse and there was magic stuff all about. So here she was, wide awake on her wedding day. The clock read that it was early. Way too bloody early but she couldn't just lie in bed. So she flung the covers aside and began her routine. A giddy smile tugged at her lips. She was getting married. Truly was. Or was this a dream and she'd wake up to find herself still in Italy excavating ruins, dreaming of a could have been life. It was still a bit surreal when she thought about it. There had been a time when she would never have believed that she would be marrying Curse Kameren of all people. Funny how things worked out. Despite all the pain they had caused each other, there still was love. Perhaps it really did conquer everything. Now, they would be together forever...for how ever long they had. Finally a family of her own.
After a long bubble bath, Ari made her way into the kitchen. It was still early, but more than a few people were awake. Ari smiled as she spotted her maid of honor, Elle half asleep, with her head pillowed on her arms as she listened to her father tease her aunt.
Everyone greeted her, but Ari didn't say much. She was fine, excited, a bit nervous and not all that hungry. The morning dragged on endlessly, but she could remember little of it. Eventually, Ari, her aunt and Elle went upstairs for hair and make up. They would do most of their beautification at the house, then change into their dresses at the Church. Her gown. She couldn't wait to see Curse's face. It had taken a long time to find the perfect fit. It was a simple, yet elegant gown, classic. With the help of her aunt, she'd stitched runes into the hem, adding a personal touch.
Suddenly, there were at the Church, the count down had begun!
Merlin she was getting married. A part of her wished that her mother was there, but the rehearsal dinner had proved to much. Despite potions, she still believed she was an impostor. Her Arianna, was a little girl no older than a toddler. She had no desire to be at a wedding for a stranger. Especially one marrying a Kameren. At least she had one parent there. A miracle.
It was finally happening, and the world was not ending. No disaster to stop it from occurring. No going back. Just forward.

“CURSE, YOU’D BETTER NOT BE RUNNING LATE.” This was heard from the other side of the door, accompanied by several loud thumps on the wood. Another voice piped up, pitched to pierce the door. “Your brother’s impatient! Can I have wedding cake? I’ve got a craving!”
“Cain, the cake-ss-s for afterr!” Alex admonished, turning to his friend and running a finger under his collar. Did the neck of this need to be so tight? He was pretty sure it didn’t. What exactly was the muggle difference between a suit and a tuxedo? They seemed pretty similar, except he was wearing a white bowtie instead of a tie. Was it tighter than a tie? It was secretly a noose, he knew it. For merlin’s sake, what was with the fidgets? He wasn’t even the one getting married!
“Remember, you have to walk Elle down the aisle.” Cain sounded way too smug in Alex’s ear. He winced, closing his eyes. “Bugger off, Cain.” He muttered back.

Curse was just stepping out of the shower when he heard action starting in the rest of the apartment. That would be Alex, he assumed. Damnit, he was early. Or was Curse late? He dried off quickly and started figuring out his tuxedo. Merlin, he hadn't worn one of these in a long time.
“CURSE, YOU’D BETTER NOT BE RUNNING LATE.”
"HE'S DEFINITELY RUNNING LATE!" Max was sitting on the floor just outside the bathroom, waiting with toothbrush in hand for his dad to come out. He jumped up and ran for his uncles with a fierce hug. Max was practically bouncing off the walls today; was it possible for him to be more excited for Curse and Arianna's wedding than they were? They were both so much happier together, he couldn't wait for them to be that way forever.
“Your brother’s impatient! Can I have wedding cake? I’ve got a craving!”
“Cain, the cake-ss-s for afterr!”
"Don't you DARE touch that cake!" Violet came from around the corner of the kitchen, scowling at Cain. She'd slaved over that bloody dessert, and she'd see it make it to the reception safe and sound.
"I'm not running late, thank-you-very-much." Curse stepped out of the bathroom straightening his bowtie. He still had a wet mop of hair, but besides that he seemed more or less ready. 'More or less' wasn't enough for Arianna though, he knew. He chased his son around the apartment, taking Max's hands when they clutched at his bowtie. "Let me get that for you, Max, you've got it knotted..." Curse's fingers fumbled nervously with the tie; he was nervous, but he wasn't going to show it if he could stop himself. He would have to do with this what he did with his other anxieties: channel it into habits. He could fidget and fumble, as long as it didn't mess with the wedding. He wasn't ruining this for Arianna. He wouldn't do that to his wife.
Curse looked over his shoulder at his brother for a moment, arching a brow. "I'm the groom, right? Shouldn't I be the one looking scared?"
“Remember, you have to walk Elle down the aisle.” Cain sounded way too smug in Alex’s ear.
He winced, closing his eyes. “Bugger off, Cain.” He muttered back.
Curse laughed. He turned back to Max, straightening the tie. "Now, just leave it. If you untie it again I'm going to charm it to stay and you'll be wearing it until we come back from our honeymoon. Won't be as fun then, will it?" Max shook his head no, but the grin on his face left Curse wondering. He sighed, mussing Max's hair before standing straight. "So, to the church?"

Weddings were a strange affair. Especially muggle ones. Elle Callahan couldn't help but gaze around the church with awe. She couldn't really believe that muggles had created such a structure without magical help. To prepare for the wedding, Elle had asked Max about muggle traditions. Things she should be aware of and what not. She even bought a book on wedding customs. Like rice throwing. What was all that about? Another to do item was get a date. Her first choice would have been Alex but that was unlikely to happen and she didn't want to ruin their friendship. She'd been seeing him more and more recently as they worked on a case together that needed some medical expertise. She would no longer wait for Alex Kameren. She was old enough to face the fact that they weren't suited for each other. So she found herself a date. Had actually gone out on a few dates before asking Lysander to the wedding. He was foreign medical wizard who was visiting St. Mungo's sharing techniques and stuff. Actually they had lots in common. It was a nice change to be around someone who saw you as a woman and knew about your profession. The downside was that they were both stressed and overworked.
But that was neither here nor there. Today was about celebrating the Arianna and Kristopher. What a glorious day it would be. If only the men would get there. Ari was fretting in the mirror with her aunt, waiting for things to start. Of course with every passing minute there seemed to be a thousand little crises but they were being dealt with. Guests were already arriving. The count down was on.

When no one answered the door, Alex entered with a quiet unlocking spell. He and Cain quickly found themselves in Violet’s livingroom, the door swinging shut behind them. It wasn’t long until Violet bore down on them, waving a wooden mixing spoon. Alex edged slightly behind Cain, who, as the offending party, was the woman’s target. Alex did not want to be in her way. For that matter, he tried to avoid her when she was in a good mood. She was a force of nature.
"Don't you DARE touch that cake!" Violet came from around the corner of the kitchen, scowling at Cain. She'd slaved over that bloody dessert, and she'd see it make it to the reception safe and sound.
"I'm not running late, thank-you-very-much."
“Aa-ac tually youu arre.†Alex corrected, clearing his throat. Kris. Say Kris. Its his wedding day. “Krissy.†He added, unable to hide a slight smirk.
"I'm the groom, right? Shouldn't I be the one looking scared?"
Alex narrowed his eyes at his brother. “I am not… scarred.†He hissed in a low voice, frowning at the slip of his tongue. Scarred. Of course he was. Scared. Of course he was not. He knew from experience that trying to fix his mistake would only make worse ones. So he soldiered on. “And you do look scared, Kris.†He turned the tables around on Curse, lifting one eyebrow sardonically.
"So, to the church?"
“Unless y-you get cold fe-feeet.â€

"EEEEEEEE!!!" A high-pitched, cheerful squeal preceded one of the guests into the church. Nuriko bounded into the church, her hair short, spiky and blue as usual, though it would stay that way for once. Her dress was a deep, almost rust orange and strapless and flared into a skirt that ended just above her knees. Riko made a short bow in the direction of the altar and dashed off to see if she could find any of her friends.
"Elle! Elle!" She waved until she got the woman's attention. "Hey! I can't believe it, they're actually getting married! At last! Finally!" She looked around the church, noticing the distinct lack of Kamerens. "Hey when are you and Alex gonna hook up? He's your date, right?"

"I'm not running late, thank-you-very-much." Curse tended to his son, making sure Max was ready to go so they wouldn't be late. Curse could take care of himself easily enough, Max was the handful.
"Aa-ac tually youu arre." Curse glanced up at Alex, but didn't acknowledge his correction. His were a bit tied at the moment, literally with Max's tuxedo. Bowties were much more difficult to tie when they're tiny. "Krissy."
Curse shuddered at the nickname; that was only okay when Violet said it. When Max was dealt with Curse turned to his brother in disappointment. "You just had to tack that on the end, didn't you?" A glance at Alex had him chuckling. "I'm the groom, right? Shouldn't I be the one looking scared?"
"I am not scarred."
"Your mouth's telling me something else." Curse didn't bother to look up from Max. Alex's speech troubles got worse when something was bothering him, he knew that.
He turned the tables around on Curse, lifting one eyebrow sardonically. "And you do look scared, Kris."
"Well, I'm about to pledge the rest of my regrettably short life to a woman far too good for me. And she wants kids." Curse shrugged. Unlike Alex, he wasn't ashamed of being afraid. Everything was uncertain after this day for him. "Of course I'm scared. Wait until you get here, I'm sure you'll be shitting your pants."
"Dad!" Max crossed his arms.
"Don't tell mum or Ari that I said that." He cocked a brow at his son, daring him to place his fingers on the bowtie again. He wasn't afraid to charm the thing on. He sighed, looking between Alex and Cain. "So, to the church?"
"Unless y-you get cold fe-feeet."
"My fe-feeet are fine, thanks." Curse picked Max up under one arm, the young boy yelping and laughing with the sudden movement. He pecked his mother goodbye on the cheek. "Let me know if you can't get ahold of Amelia, I can come back and drive you to the church."
"I'll be fine, dearest." She beamed at him and he smiled back before heading for the lift.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
Merlin, they were late. Guests were already arriving at the church, filing in and finding seats. Arianna wasn't going to be out until later, he knew: he couldn't see her before the wedding, it was bad luck. At the moment, though, she was the only one he wanted to see. To say he was a bit frightened would be an understatement, and he would be more comfortable with his wife-t0-be by his side. This would be the last time that they would be truly separate, though. After this, they would always be there for each other. No matter what.
Curse ran a hand through his hair a bit nervously as he entered the church. Large gatherings like this , where he had to stand on ceremony, weren't his strong point. He found a place to greet people and get ready for the coming vows, trying to blend in despite the ceremony being partially about him.
"I can't believe it, they're actually getting married! At last! Finally! Hey when are you and Alex gonna hook up? He's your date, right?"
Max, however, felt quite at home as the center of attention. He meandered around the crowds of relatives and aquaintences with a grin on his face. It didn't take long for him to find his way to the electric blue-haired young lady he knew very well. "Nuriko!" Max practically pounced on her, an eager grin on his face. Then it was Elle's turn, Max wrapping his lanky arms around the tiny healer. Day by day, he was on his way to getting taller. "You're Alex's date? That must be why he's so nervous, he's practically worse than dad..."

The church was beginning to fill and as each second passed, Elle began to squirm. What if she tripped walking down the aisle? Alex was sooo much taller than her. Would he too lose his balance? They did say that the larger they were the harder they fell. It would surely be obvious if he fell. Everyone would hear the impact. What if her hands were sweaty? Would it gross Alex out? Or maybe it would freak Lysander out. Where was her date anyways? He'd said he'd meet up with her at the church since she was in the wedding party and had to help Ari...
Elle was pulled out of her rambling thoughts by a very high pitched very familiar squeal. It was a bright orange...Nuri. The shade of pumpkin actually looked good on her friend. Elle smiled as she tried to spy the woman she could hear but barely see through the crowd.
"Hello," She greeted when the woman finally reached her.
"Hey when are you and Alex gonna hook up? He's your date, right?"
Elle blushed slightly, but before she could respond a cheerful Max, bounded over.
"You're Alex's date? That must be why he's so nervous, he's practically worse than dad..."
"Ummm I'm not his date, but we are paired up to walk down the aisle together," She said feeling a little awkward and guilty as she explained the situation. She shouldn't be guilty though because Alex hadn't asked her. So she'd asked someone else. And there he was! Elle waved towards the Italian wizard. Lysander was dressed in a conservative muggle suit that went well with his swarthy good looks. He flashed a bright smile when he spotted Elle and walked over. He was a few inches taller than the petite healer.
"Nuri, Max, this is my date Lysander, he's a fellow healer, Lys, this is my friend nuri and Max, the ring boy,"

"Hello," She greeted when the woman finally reached her.
"Hey when are you and Alex gonna hook up? He's your date, right?"
“Oof!” Nuri caught the enthusiastic boy as he did his best to squeeze all the air from her lungs. “..cof… Hi Max!”
"You're Alex's date? That must be why he's so nervous, he's practically worse than dad..."
"Ummm I'm not his date, but we are paired up to walk down the aisle together,"
Nuriko took deep breaths as the Kameren boy’s vice-like hold disappeared from her midsection. Merlin that kid had a grip. Her eyes shot to Elle as she admitted she wasn’t Alex’s date, her eyes widening. Peanuts! When would those two admit they liked each other? It was obvious… to her at least.
"Nuri, Max, this is my date Lysander, he's a fellow healer, Lys, this is my friend nuri and Max, the ring boy,"
Nuriko placed her hands on her hips as she looked up at the healer. She didn’t have to look far, he was rather short for a man and only stood a couple inches shorter than Nuriko herself did at five-one. She sized him up with a skeptical eyebrow. She wasn’t sure she liked him. But she shouldn’t judge, he hadn’t even had time to speak yet.
“Charmed.” She drawled, drawing out the word as long as possible. She shot a look at Elle. “Another healer?”
--
Alex entered the church behind Curse, watching as Max took off like a bolt. Curse was trying his best to skulk through the crowd. Alex stayed quiet, pulling on the bowtie one last time before merging with the crowd. He stayed along the walls, avoiding the aisles and pews in the center. Cain was already surrounding himself with new friends, probably ‘studying the societal, behavioral and assumptive differences between two wholly different cultures’ or something such. Alex rolled his eyes and drifted away from his friend.

It wasn't until the church was nearly full that panic started to set into Curse. What if he couldn't be for Arianna what she was for him? He couldn't give her what she wanted, he couldn't give her a big family and a comfortable life. The poor woman was marrying him knowing that she would be a widow in a decade's time. Eventually he would fail her in every way he dreaded. How could he do this to her, bind her in her youth to someone without a future?
When he had greeted everyone and made small talk, he finally found the time to slip out the side exit to the church. He lit a cigarette with shaky fingers. He needed solitude, just for a moment. He loved this woman with everything he had. That was why he was so terrified to let her love him back.
"Mr. Kameren?" The accompanist poked her head out the side door, looking curiously at the scarred groom. He got strange looks from muggles often, as his scarred face came without explanation. Poor Ms. Chen was particularly unnerved by it. "The ceremony should start soon..."
He nodded. "Alright, I'm coming." He sighed heavily, putting out his cigarette and grasping again for his nerves.
When he re-entered the church, everyone was seated. Curse ran into Alex in one of the side-rooms before the ceremony. He looked up at his brother without a word, his hands in his pockets. It was obvious that he was nervous now. "Is this a good idea?" He blurted, worry in his voice. Alex would know what he meant: Should I do this to her, knowing that I'll leave her behind?
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
"Nuri, Max, this is my date Lysander, he's a fellow healer, Lys, this is my friend nuri and Max, the ring boy"
"Oh." Max dutifully shook the short man's hand. Darn it. He'd hoped what Nuri said was true; he liked Elle, and wouldn't mind having her as an aunt one day. It was a wedding, wasn't it? All that romantic crap got contagious with adults. He saw it at his mum's wedding too.
“Charmed.” She drawled, drawing out the word as long as possible. She shot a look at Elle. “Another healer?”
"Excuse me," the minister cut into the conversation, smiling sheepishly at everyone around, "we think we might get started soon. Ms. Callahan, Max, could you group with the rest of the wedding party at the back of the church?"
Max nodded. He looked around curiously. "Where's Eden?" She was the flower girl, wasn't she? He hadn't seen any of the Fletcher family, come to think of it. Eden's Grandmum didn't much like muggle things, though. Maybe they were missing it because it was in a muggle church? But Eden couldn't miss!

She was running late on one of the most important days of her young life. It wasn't everyday that you were invited to the wedding of the century, yet along be in it. Eden Fletcher was not going to miss the wedding of her favorite professor and father of her best friend. Especially since she was trying to get self adopted into the Kameren clan. Eden hadn't parents of her own and she was tired of being a burden on her grandparents. They were far too stuffy and uptight. All those rules grated on her nerves and she was always upsetting them with her strange talents. While she might be related by blood to her grandparents they didn't understand or really cherish her. She felt like a guest in their home which was odd since she lived there nearly her entire life. Eden didn't remember living anywhere besides the Ashcroft townhouse in Godrick's Hallow. Now, because she'd contracted a fever and apparently a bad attitude. Her grand mother was making her stay home! Well bullocks to that. She nearly always had a low grade fever and well everyone knew that her uppity grandparents disapproved of the wild Curse Kameren and his illegitimate son. On top of that he was marrying the crazy spawn of what once was a noble pureblood family. So, Eden thought her having to stay home was on the account of her grandparents not approving and not because Eden was really all that sick.
Not going to stay in her room, Eden escaped. She'd made it into the parlor without alerting the watch elves. With a heavy duster over her white dress, Eden flooed to the Leaky Cauldron. It was the only place where she knew how to get to Muggle London. With the help of several kind muggles, staring at her oddly, she was able to use the tube, and a taxi to get to the church.
"Where's Eden?"
"Here," She called skidding to a halt after her mad dash into the church. Her blonde curls were hanging a bit lose, and there was a little dust on her dress, but for the most part she was still rather put together, especially if one looked passed her droopy bow.
"Wouldn't believe the adventure I had! Mmy grandmere wouldn't let me come so I sneaked out and well I made it. Bloody hell," Elle blurted out when she spotted her grandfather with Emery. So they'd come after all.
"If they see me before it start's they'll pull me out." She said ducking behind Max.

“You don’t have a choice.” Alex spaced out his words, wanting each one to be clear and without mistaking. He’d known the question was coming, Curse was transparent in his worries and fretting. “She wants you. There is no ‘doing this to her.’” He quoted Curse’s worries. He’d heard them often enough.
“Arianna wants to marry you. She knows life will be hard. But that does not matter to her. What matters to her is having you with her.” He made his point haltingly, but fortunately clearly. “Now go, b-before someone comes to find you.” He turned Curse by his shoulders and gave him a light shove towards the sanctuary.
Alex himself headed for the back of the church, searching out Elle and extending her his arm. As the best man and maid of honor, they would proceed down the aisle once the music started. At that point Curse would already be established in his place at the front.

"Is this a good idea?"
“You don’t have a choice.” Alex had a point there, really. Second thoughts right now were too late. He hadn't struggled with them like this before, but that was the question: was this his true feelings coming to light, or just cold feet?
“She wants you. There is no ‘doing this to her. Arianna wants to marry you. She knows life will be hard. But that does not matter to her. What matters to her is having you with her.”
With a deep breath Curse nodded rather half-heartedly. It was selfish of him to think of it as his decision. Arianna had chosen him, trusted him to join lives together until death parted them. He needed to have respect for that decision and prove himself by living up to those expectations as long as he lived. It was a commitment, but it made Curse uncomfortable knowing his lifetime commitment was less than his wife's.
“Now go, b-before someone comes to find you.”
Curse moved with the momentum of Alex's shove, trying to regain the confidence that had rushed out of him a moment ago. He entered the church, where his and Arianna's relatives were already seated. He recognized a few unfriendly faces from Arianna's side from their uncomfortable dinner at Amelia's, including Amelia herself and her husband Peter. He shook hands with the minister in greeting before standing in his place.
You're dying.
The music began to play.
You're dying.
Max and Eden were first down the aisle. Max took his dad's hand for a brief moment and squeezed it when he stood next to him.
You're dying.
Alex and Elle were next, arms linked as they both tried to hide their pleasure in that contact. Curse tried to smile, but he wasn't sure his nerves would let him.
You're dying.
The music swelled as the seated guests stood towards the door.
You're -
There she was. And suddenly, Curse felt alright. Arianna was glowing and beautiful in her wedding dress, a wide smile on her face as she walked the aisle with her arm linked to her father. This was their happy ending. After so much hardship, they were here. And even with the other hardships to come, they could never lose this. They would always have each other.

“Charmed.” She drawled, drawing out the word as long as possible. She shot a look at Elle. “Another healer?”
Elle shrugged her thin shoulders in a what-can-i-say-gesture. It wasn't like she had much time to meet eligible men on her schedule. Lysander was a nice guy and he worked similar hours. Besides, he was interesting. She enjoyed talking with him, seeing his perspective as a foreign wizard.
From Nuri's disappointed look Elle knew the girl had wished she and Alex had come as a couple but that was like wishing for hell to freeze. Elle was tired of waiting for Alex to mature enough to notice that she liked him, that she was flirting with him. Nothing seemed to work and she just did not feel like waiting anymore. So, she had asked a man she valued to be her date.
"Excuse me," the minister cut into the conversation, smiling sheepishly at everyone around, "we think we might get started soon. Ms. Callahan, Max, could you group with the rest of the wedding party at the back of the church?"
Elle squeezed Lysander's hand in farewell, before standing on her toes to whisper in his ear where his seat was and that she'd find him after the ceremony. Once he was settled, she followed Max to the back of the church where Alex was scowling. Did he ever smile? She took his proffered arm ignoring the sneering voice in her mind telling her that she enjoyed clutching him to her.
The music started and Elle froze for a second. This was the first time she would walk in front of so many people. But this was not her day and she need not worry. No one was looking at her. She leaned a little closer to Alex, tightening her grip, suddenly plauged by an irrational fear that he would turn and leave. He hated crowds and wasn't a very sentlemental person. If he thought he could get away with it he probably wouldn't be walking down the asle next to her.
Before Elle knew it they had reached the front of the church, Elle winked at Curse, let go of Alex and took her place, waiting for Arianna.
