It was a festival, hosted by magical London’s events committee, and to cap it off, there would be a masque ball in the evening. All were welcome to attend. Even students who had gained signed permission slips from their parents were being brought in on a special Express from Hogwarts. It was something the community needed, and it was certainly going to be a blast for all invited.
Students and adults alike would mingle at the huge festival in the very centre of wizarding England: Diagon Alley. The stores had booths set up along the streets, and the main square would play host to games in the afternoon and the masque ball in the evening.
It was ten o'clock in the morning and already the streets were bustling with people as they called out to each other and examined the wares on display. They bought foods of all sorts and munched them as the crowd ebbed and flowed.
Meanwhile, at King's Cross a whistle sounded, announcing the arrival of the Hogwart's Express to station.

Post by Minister Jack Harkness on Oct 29, 2010 0:40:10 GMT -5
Minister Harkness himself was looking forward to the revelry, he dressed in his finest robes for the occasion, he adjusted a tie striped in the colours of his old house, yellow and black. Yellow trimmed his robe, and he wore a happy smile. He headed down the hall to check on his oldest children, Jack and Kendra. They were visiting him for a time, and they were going to the festival together, though no doubt they would eventually break up and follow their own pursuits.
“Ready to go?”

Post by Erin O'Reilly on Oct 29, 2010 1:26:48 GMT -5
Erin loved all manner of social events, and certainly wouldn't miss out on this one. She'd slipped only a single galleon and several sickles into her pocket, not in a financial situation where she could allow herself to succumb to temptation amidst the various vendors. She supposed it would be enough for a bite to eat and a drink or two. Her younger brothers had stuffed their pockets with all the money they had despite Erin's reprimands. But they were fourth years now, and she couldn't police every little mistake they made, and also couldn't perform surreptitious magic to trick them into doing the right thing.
An event to be away from school also gave the Hufflepuff girl the fashion freedom that she was stifled from while in class. In darker clothing than she'd normally don, she dressed in the spirit for All Hallow's Eve. In orange and black clothing, she accessorized heavily, many of the items she'd made herself, including a jack-o-lantern-shaped necklace that magically flickered as it a firelight burned inside it and dangling black cat earrings. She also had one side of her hair pinned back, fastened behind her ear with an orange hibiscus that she'd dipped in black ink.
She was even more excited about the evening's festivities, where she was prepared to take on her customarily bright colors for the masque ball. Keeping it a secret, she brought along (hidden deceptively in a small magic handbag) a ball gown she'd handmade over the summer. At the time, she'd had no idea what she'd use it for, but knew an opportunity would arise. When she heard about the Halloween ball in London, she waited about quietly, hoping a large number of students would decide to go. While interest in the event grew steadily, Erin could be found sitting cross-legged on her bed, fashioning herself a festive mask.
Now she was at the festival, just a short time after the train had spilled out the excited gaggle of Hogwarts students. She stood, leaning against a short and aged-looked wooden fence, watching a little street-show featuring singing jack-o-lanterns and dancing broomsticks.

It had been a close thing, but Nuriko had gotten her parental slip just in time to hop on the Express when it left Hogwarts at seven that morning. There was much complaining, because it was a Sunday, but still the students were excited and piled on the train swiftly. A day away from school!! It was quite the treat. Nuriko couldn't help but wonder at their headmaster's motives.
Nevertheless, she had enthusiastically taken the opportunity to dress in her favorite jeans and bronze t-shirt emblazoned with the logo for the Tennessee thestrals. A huge, black, skeletal winged horse reared across the the front of her shirt normally. Now she charmed it to run across the fabric, it moved and acted like the real thing. She paired the shirt with a navy cloak against the cold.

Off the train, the teachers gathered their assigned classes around. They were transported by portkey to Diagon Alley. Nuriko grinned, walking through the crowded streets.

Post by Ralin O'Faerlun on Oct 30, 2010 19:46:12 GMT -5
Taking time off from his intensive training regimen, Ralin had managed to make it over to Diagon Alley (of course, you couldn't keep him away from a festival or party any more than you could keep a house elf from cooking). Dressed in a BRIGHT orange turtleneck that had the letters BOO in black on the front, which clashed wonderfully with his flaming Irish hair (literally flaming, he'd enchanted it to look like that), and a pair of worn jeans, Ralin also had a fox tail attached to his waist and faux ears on his head.
Eyes wide with glee, he wandered the booths and festivities with one hand tapping the coins in his pocket. Hmmmm, too much to spend on! Deciding to make his way over to Zonkos, the Irish young man dodged through the crowd, keeping an eye out for anyone he knew. Suddenly, he felt a tuck at his backside, and his faux tail dropped off. "Oy," he said, turning around. "Ye've nicked me tail!"

Post by Professor Schmidt on Nov 1, 2010 11:15:28 GMT -5
It hadn't been one of the first times she'd disagreed with a decision of the headmaster but, as always, Alexandra had bowed to his wishes and carried out his instructions with determination and a keen eye to detail. It had been two weeks prior that she'd been summoned to the headmaster's office and instructed, in no uncertain terms, to organize a trip for the students. They were to attend the All Hallow's Eve festival, known to most muggles simply as Halloween, and then particpate in the Masque Ball later that evening.
Originally she'd argued against it. It was frivolous and unnecessary, and the students would get better use of their time if they stayed at Hogwarts and studied. Exams were coming closer and closer for some and even those who didn't have exams approaching could do with studying in order to keep up their own abilities. But the headmaster had been insistent: it would benefit them and keep moral up and, as children, they were entitled to enjoy themselves every once in a while. Eventually she'd given in.
Since then Alexandra had spent her time organizing the trip. The first thing she did was send letters home to the parents or guardians of every single student at Hogwarts who needed parental permission to leave Hogwarts on field trips. Those who got permission would attend, and those who did not would remain at Hogwarts. Then she'd arranged the time the Hogwarts express would arrive and depart, and then sorted out the many other smaller, more trivial matters.
Now, as she stepped away from the portkey that had transported them from Kings Cross Station to Diagon Alley, she wondered whether the headmaster had been correct. The students were indeed excited and chatting amongst themselves but she had seen the looks of those left behind at Hogwarts because they couldn't gain permission in time. Most unfair. Unavoidable? Not at all. Still, she had a duty to do now and that was what she focused on. "All students are to remain in Diagon Alley for the duration of this trip," Alexandra called out. The tip of her wand was against her throat, the non-verbal spell she'd cast amplifying her voice. We will meet on this very spot at six o'clock this evening. No exceptions!
She didn't doubt, as the students shot off to the shops and booths, that her instructions would be followed. Amongst the teachers at Hogwarts she was held in a mixture of fear and respect; mostly fear by the students and respect by the teachers. She didn't mind. As she moved down Diagon Alley, her black robes flowing about her, she noticed several students she knew. Erin O'Reilly, a sixth year Hufflepuff, was watching a street show. Nuriko Elsywth was walking through the crowds. It was pleasant, but as always she was cautious.

Sienna had sorely wanted to be one of those remaining at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, the permission note had arrived at Belle Terre and since her mother had enthusiastically agreed (her father had been away at work) she had no other recourse but to join the activity.
The note her mother had sent also gave Sienna an ominous feeling, as it had ended with a cheery 'See you there!' That didn't bode well for fun in Diagon Alley, even if it was her first time going there.
The young first year stayed close to Professor Schmidt, glancing at the throng of people who were in the festival. Sienna didn't realize there would be that many people, and though she wanted to join in the fun she really did not want to get lost.
She truly wished Michael were there.

"Oy," he said, turning around. "Ye've nicked me tail!"
Nuriko stood behind her friend, a look of pure mischief on her face. She held her hands behind her back, as if the action would actually hide the faux fox tail. “I’ve nicked wot?” She teased, adopting a-not-so-good copy of his accent. She danced backwards, evading his swipe for the tail.
“C’mon, can’t catch me!” She returned to her native Southern drawl. What followed resembled a frantic game of tag. Nuriko stumbled into someone, she turned swiftly, laughing. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry…”

Zahara was thankful she was of age and didn't need parents permission for anything. Getting Permission seemed silly to her If a kid wanted to go to some crowded ally for a festival let them. The blond imagined more than a handful rather had just stayed at the school, even with permission slips signed. She looked around with arms crossed across her chest as her eyes scanned the area in slight boredom as the deputy headmistress went on about the meeting time. She found her self sighing as she watched from her spot where she leaned against a shop wall when the other students let out babbles of happiness and went wherever they so please.
Once the sea of students past she pushed off the wall with her foot and began weaving her way through the thick crowd of witches and wizards some students others just adults enjoying the festivities. She loved Halloween, to her it was one of the best holidays. Screw easter and Christmas give her Jack-o-lanterns and Spiders or give her death. Was how she jokingly like to put it. She had dressed up wearing a costume she had made herself. She had always made her own costumes ever since she was a little girl. But then with her mothers help, Now she done it on her own. But this year around by the term she made it herself it was just clothes she threw on that she found in her closet and added some vampire fangs to she had gotten from a muggle store.
Zahara was wearing a black and red above the knee cap sleeve dress with a black biker jacket, and five inch platform stiletto heels with fishnet stockings. She accessorized with a spider ring, bat choker, and cherry amber earrings. Her make up was done in foundation and shimmer powder with a smokey eye that had a touch of red to it and dark lipstick with heavy mascara and eyeliner. She had her hair hanging and styled to have a tousled look to it like she had ran her hands through it prior to riding a motorcycle or flying a broomstick. Because what was a biker version of a vampire without tousled hair? Her fake fangs stuck out lightly over her bottom lip and her blue eyes popped with the make up she wore.
Zahara walked around surveying what was going on around her, The atmosphere was full of life and happiness as she stopped to look at one of the small vendor booths she heard someone going on about a nicked tail. She turned and seen a fellow Hogwarts student and someone definitely out of Hogwarts having some fun over a obviously fake tail. WORDCOUNT:: 451 THEOUTFIT:: click here TAGGEDFOR:: open COMMENTS:: n.a

Post by Eoin Tynan on Nov 5, 2010 21:33:35 GMT -5
"That's all right," the blonde-haired man said as he steadied the giggling young woman. "This place is a bit all over the place. Looks like you decided on tricks instead of treats?" His light blue eyes twinkled as he cast an appraising glance over the girl and the young man behind her.
Festivals were not quite Eoin's thing, but he'd decided to get out of his flat and see the sights, maybe even have fun himself. "Oh," he bent over and picked up the fox tail she had dropped after running into him. "You dropped this. Or is it yours?" He smiled and tossed it from hand to hand, then stuck out his right hand. What good was he as Head Auror if he didn't make an effort to meet the general populace, maybe even make some acquaintances.
"Might as well introduce myself, my name is Eoin Tynan, I'm the Head Auror at the Ministry. But looks like just harmless pranks happening around here today."
