Perched high within the North Tower, the Divination Classroom was rather unlike most other classrooms at Hogwarts. There were no desks to be had, no clutter to be seen, and what little light existed in the circular room came from a handful of carefully hung lanterns, which added more mystery to the space than illumination. The format of the class was equally different. Classes were held in the evening, after dinner, and specifically on Friday nights. Restricted to an elective for students of a higher year, Professor Tor could afford to make the class unique this way, though he chose to do so purely for the fact that in most instances, the students were then free of the stress and anxiety of their school week, which often impacted their ability in his class.
Although the relics once belonging to the former Divination professor were long removed from the space, Tor imparted his own sense of decor upon the tower classroom. Crystal quartz orbs sat locked away in large black cases and the tapestries and saris once belonging to Sybill Trewlaney were taken down to expose the rough stonework of the castle and the paned windows gazing over the Forbidden Forest. At least one of these windows always remained open.
As twilight fell upon the first Divination class of the new school year, a violent thunderstorm raged outside. Flashes of light bathed the classroom erratically and for a long while, Vladek watched the scene outside with intense focus. The night was angry and within him stirred a sense of unease. Restlessness. When the volume of his class rose beyond a murmur, Tor turned to address his students with a quiet yet commanding presence.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I am Professor Tor. Welcome to Divination. I appreciate that you have given up your Friday evening to join me here. I promise that you will find it entirely worth your effort."
"I have asked each of you to arrive to class with your textbook, Divination in Darkness. We will not be using your text tonight but please have the first chapter read for next class. Some of the concepts may seem complex to you, but it will become clearer as we progress. Have faith. Tonight we are going to focus on developing our ready state. It will be purely practical. Before we begin, please rise and form a circle."
