The door to the Three Broomsticks made a hearty thunk as it closed behind a young red-headed woman, shutting out the afternoon sun of Hogsmeade Village. It was rare the young woman made an appearance in Hogsmeade, but whenever she did she was always sure to stop in and visit her old friend, Madam Rosemerta. She carried a small plate covered with tinfoil, a home-made gift for her friends at the Broomsticks. A grin grew upon Shannon O'Sullivan's face as she approached the bar.
"Rosemerta?" Shannon called playfully, setting the plate down on the bar.
"She's not in," A voice called from behind the wall leading to the kitchen. "You have a message?"
"Isnae in? Nat even fer an ol' friend bearin' gefts?" She replied wryly, her grey-blue eyes lighting up as she saw who she was talking to. "PETE! How've yeh been?! Bloody Hell 's been ages..."
"You didn't think I'd let you go without coming out to say hi," He smiled, hugging his friend over the bar. "Good to see you back in the wizarding world! Now what've you brought for us?"
"Made muffins t'other day an' ah thought a you an' Rosemerta," She replied, pulling the tinfoil off the plate. "They're a bet mes-shapen, but still delicious Ah'd thin'..."
"Sounds perfect!" Pete replied, enthusiastically taking a bite out of the muffin. "How've you been, love?"
"Yeh know, well enough. An' yerself? 'S been busy in the Broomsticks lately? Seems quiet taday..." She tossed her red hair over her shoulder as she looked around, her eyes lingering in a corner where she thought she saw someone she recognized.
"Nah, the rain's been keeping them away," Pete shook his head as he poured his friend a butterbeer. "And, you know, the start of school and everything. Only had a few people all day. Here you go, lass, on the house..."
"Than' you," Shannon replied with a smile, taking a seat at the bar across from her friend. "Ah'd rather have thes rain than the snow we're gonna be gettin' in the next couple months. Ah mess Hogwarts lately. Gotta do a piece on et fer the Prophet next month."
"How's the Prophet going?" Pete asked, but had to leave her for the opposite end of the bar, where there were customers waiting. Shannon smiled, taking a sip of the warm butterbeer as she examined the bar around her.
