Scott grunted as he gave on last tug. In return, he only received a wave of pain going up his leg. The muggle studies professor gave a small whimper as he glanced around. There wasn’t a student or another teacher in sight to see the pathetic man struggle. His right foot was caught in a step of the stairs, the wooden surface having disappeared when he stepped upon it and reappear as he tried to pull it free. Now, his ankle was stuck inside the wood, his foot too big to squeeze out.
At first, he had tried to weasel his foot out, which didn’t work. Then his temper flared and he had tried violently tugging his ankle out. In response, the stair seemed to make the hole smaller and the professor fell. Forced to sit two steps above where his foot was trapped, the professor had made one last hard tug. He had promptly heard something pop, a great wave of pain, and his foot was still not out.
It had been ten minutes, according to his watch, since his ankle got stuck. Not a single student or teacher had passed by. Most well-adjusted wizards would be able to charm his way out of the tricky step. Sadly though, Scott was not one of those. His wand sat on his desk, abandoned and the muggle studies professor had no experience with wandless magic. Actually, the teacher would not have been surprised that even with his wand; he wouldn’t be able to set his foot free. At the moment, Scott’s spell usage was limited.
Scott gritted his teeth as another wave of pain came from his ankle. He glanced around again, his blue eyes tracing the nearby staircases. No one was moving up or down them. That was probably due to the fact that it was late at night and Scott was using a far set of stairs not normally tread upon by a majority of the student population. It was useless for most of them but since it led almost directly to the Muggle Studies classroom, Scott was a frequent user.
Normally, he would’ve jumped this step. He had known it was there, remembering it from his days when he was at this castle but the professor had made the trip down half-awake. It was his own fault though; he shouldn’t really take naps at his desk. Then he shouldn’t expect to be able to wake up and be coherent enough to make a safe trip down moving stairs with disappearing steps.
Maybe he just lived with muggles too long.
OoC: I know this was supposed to be Numbers's fate but it was too tempting not to do this with Scott. He had it coming. xD

Hogwarts was, as usual, as enchanting as she remembered it from her years before she lived back in Okinawa. As curious as the small lass was, she decided that exploring a bit of Hogwarts would be a fun evening activity seeing as she slept but... Well, not all that well unless she was exhausted. With her was her large bird of pray, Haede, the Eagle Owl and her broom along with her wand tucked into her robe. Admittedly, Mei looked quite odd carrying as much as she was, but she preferred to keep her personal belongings with her in the evenings.
Swiftly, she took a few turns at random and found her at some odd stairs which moved and some of the steps also disappeared at will. Playfully, she hopped up the stairs avoiding her broom in her hand, and managing not to impale herself with the twelve and a half inch holly wood wand. Haede flew beside her slowly, careful to spin around her and not to stop on the railings which he thought might be enchanted, too. She laughed pleasantly before she hopped on another step and off it just as quickly as it disappeared.
Looking up from her little game, she looked up at another professor, one of the ones who she saw at the meeting who had muggle studies pasted to his face. The one with the bright hair and muggle clothing on, and she gave him a warm smile, hoping over the vanished step and peering at him with her large silvery eyes. "Hello!" She spoke, bubbly as ever. "You look like you need some help, Professor." Her response was quick as she wasn't hesitant to whip out her long wand, managing not to whip his face with it in the process and sit next to his foot in her lavish dress.
"Relashio Pes!" Her words were murmured as a small white light emitted from her wand and had the wood release his foot from the binding. Looking back up at him, she stood up and offered her hand, Haede tweeted in her ear and landed on her raised arm, larger than more of the owls in the owlry it was a wonder how she held his weight on her arm. "I am Professor Mei Kinjo, the Flying and Quidditch professor." She introduced herself, tucking her wand back into her robe and holding out her free hand to shake his own.
Her normal optimistic emotion was still there quite clearly as she smiled warmly at him with her pink lips. Wondering about this professor and how he managed to take these stairs instead of the safer one's at night - though he'd probably have the same question for her...

Scott couldn’t believe his luck as he heard footsteps coming up the stairs. He gave one last tug, seeing if he could get out himself but pain was the only result. Resigning to the hope that whoever was coming up the stairs would help him, Scott waited.
The muggle studies professor instantly recognized the other teacher as she came into view. He remembered her strange dress from the meeting. He didn’t have a chance to speak with her but she seemed like an interesting person. A rising curiosity almost made the pain bearable as she came up. Her dress was strange; her broomstick was in hand, an owl circling nearby. If he wasn’t miserable, Scott would’ve laughed at the fact that she looked like the image of a muggle witch. Except, no warts and green skin, but that was probably a good thing.
"You look like you need some help, Professor." It didn’t take long for the other to notice him stuck in the middle of the staircase. Scott rolled his eyes as she pointed out the obvious but bit his tongue against the snide remark that had started to form in his mouth. He had learned the lesson the hard way several times. Don’t be mean to those that want to help. If you insult them, they will leave and you will be stuck hanging from a tree branch for another ten minutes until someone else comes along. Scott was not eager to end up in a similar situation fifteen years later.
Instead, he attempted being civil. “That would be great.” He answered, motioning to his stuck foot.
There was a flash of light and suddenly, the step had disappeared and his foot was free. Pulling it away, Scott was glad that the leg of his jeans hid the ankle. Something told the professor that he did not want to see the state of his injury. Scrambling up a couple steps, careful not to put weight on the ankle, Scott made sure he was far from the trick step and while staying sitting, he could be about face to face with the other teacher.
"I am Professor Mei Kinjo, the Flying and Quidditch professor." The teacher introduced herself, tucking her wand into her robe and holding her hand out to Scott. Leaning forward, he shook her hand and smiled.
“I’m Professor Scott McCoy, the Muggle Studies professor.” He said, releasing her hand and attempting to stand. Gripping the railing, the man tried hoisting himself up, putting all of his weight onto his left foot. When he was upright, the professor attempted standing on both feet, only to receive a jab of pain. “Yeah, my ankle isn’t going to be taking any of my weight.” The man muttered, going back to leaning on the rail. ‘Let’s just hope this doesn’t disappear on me.’ He thought before turning back to the fellow teacher.
“Thanks, I have a feeling I would’ve been stuck there until morning if it hadn’t been for you.” He smiled again, trying to hide how much ankle really did hurt. “What are you doing out this late anyways?” He didn’t ask the last bit. Even as he asked the question, he didn’t exactly had an answer himself. Really, he just needed to escape the classroom, to have a nice walk around the castle. He was allowed to do that now, wasn’t he?

The man was snide with his remark, but as optimistic as Mei always was, she assumed he was just sharp due to the probable pain on his ankle. He quickly removed his foot from the new gap and stumbled back a few steps, he put no obvious weight on his ankle before he looked at her and introduced himself as the Muggle Studies Professor, Professor Scott McCoy. He released her hand and attempted to put his foot on the ground but visibly grimaced, murmuring something about not being able to put some weight on it.
Mei frowned a bit before he looked up with a new attitude and thanked her, a curious gleam to his eye even though he didn't speak a word about what he was curious about. "Just happy to help out another." She replied in her light soprano voice, her large owl coming to a rest on her small shoulder and she had swapped her broom to the other hand. Then, she realised that the muggle studies room was the opposite direction than he had been going, she looked at him curiously.
"Please, Professor McCoy, don't be offended when I ask, but, why are you out so late?" It was a rather hippocritacal question, he might've been curious about that himself, but, she did have her broomstick and if he needed to get somewhere quick, well, why didn't he just fly? Perhaps he didn't have a broomstick, then again, very few, actually, nobody flew within the actual castle, which seemed a bit silly to the lass. I mean, with how roomy the castle looked, why didn't they fly? But, that was probably a whole other conversation in itself with herself.
As she waited patiently for his answer, she nuzzled her owl, sent it up in the air after she spoke a few words in another language to him, then he disappeared. Returning her silvery-blue gaze to him, Professor Kinjo let her gaze rest on his own equally stunning pair of eyes - it seemed like almost everybody in the wizarding world had nice bright eyes...
