Ava walked into The Three Broomsticks with a smile on her face, but she was feeling a bit less chipper than usual. It was the summer holidays, which means she was to be living with her brother and his family. She loved them all very much, but she sometimes felt like she was intruding on them. She decided it would be best if she went out, at least for the night.
She looked a bit neater than she usually did. Her hair seemed to be brushed and she was wearing moderately descent robes. Ava had a lot of spare time during her day today, as she did most of the summer holidays, or she wouldn't of bothered.
It being so last minute, she hadn't made plans to meet anyone there. However, Ava didn't mind much. She actually quite enjoyed people watching. She scanned the bar to find an ideal place that she would be able to sit. She chose a barstool located right on the bar. She had decided that she didn't want to hog up a table at the usually crowded hang-out spot if she was alone.
Ava walked to her destination slowly, careful not to bump into anyone. She slid into the seat easily and ordered a butterbeer. She never cared much for firewiskey; she thought it made people different, and sometimes even mean. She feared becoming that sort of fire-whiskey drinker. After receiving her butterbeer, she gave a warm "Thank you" to her server and then turned around in her stool and watched the room. Ava sipped her butterbeer slowly and gazed at the eclectic mess of people.

Ahh crowds. They were fun. No really. The buzzing incessant sound of chatter, drunken shouts and booming laughter was a soothing melody to Maebh Breandan. She had practically been born into a crowd. So it made sense that the performer turned business woman decided to "rest" in the bustling Three Broomsticks. Being amongst people was much more relaxing than being trapped in a quiet room with no company. She was far more apt to worry that someone was going to attack her again if she was by herself.
Besides, here she had a very nice view of the Dashing Reckony Piker her...well she wasn't entirely sure what he was. Savior, friend, love interest...partner. A hot Muffin. He was a fine sight to be had that was for sure. And she was grateful for all his help.
The brunette carefully made her way through the crowd. It took longer than normal as she tried not to jostle or bump her wounded shoulder. The hex made it impossible to heal by magic, so it had to slowly mend the natural way. It was vastly annoying since it was her wand arm that was hurt and spell movement was hinder because it was her shoulder that had been ripped to shreds. At least she could use her hand, despite it resting across her chest in a sling. And a colorful sling it was. Many signatures flashed across it, encouragements from her friends. A few were even jokes, like the "I believe Alex Kameren needs to date" quote.
Finally V managed to pull her curvaceous five four frame into a barstool next to a pretty woman drinking butterbeer.
"See anything interesting ?" She asked cheerfully. The woman was obviously people watching. "I think tonight's Talent night so we'll get some vastly entertaining people in here."

Ava jumped a bit at the sound of the woman's voice. She found that relatively odd, considering it was rather noisy in the room as it was. Never the less, Ava turned toward the woman who had spoken to her and smiled whole heartedly. She had never talked to this woman before, but she was glad to have social contact. She actually hated being alone more than anything in the world.
"Actually" Ava started, still smiling at the woman "There is so much going on right now I'm finding it rather hard to focus in just one interesting person". In actuality, Ava was people watching, but she wasn't focusing on it at all. She was more concerned with finding a home for the summer holidays and to get herself out of her brother's hair. The woman was a nice distraction. Afterall, Ava took every meeting with someone as an oppurtunity to meet a new friend.
"Is it really?" Ava responded to the woman's remark about the talent night "Oh dear. I get to embarressed for people. Hmmph. At least it gives me something to do!". Ava was eager to see the actual talent some of these people had rather than the people who just thought they had talent. She really hated feeling so sorry for people, but she oftentimes couldn't help it.
After a few seconds, Ava soon realized she had forgotton to introduce herself, something she usually does within the first few seconds. "Oh! I'm Ava. Ava Coroleon!" she held out her hand to the curvey woman, ready to give her a friendly handshake.

The woman jumped as if Maebh had scared her. Ooops, she really hadn't meant to be a sneak. Perhaps the sweet lady had been very deep in thought and hadn't expected anyone to actually talk to her. Oh well, couldn't be helped and she did smile invitingly at Maebh as if she was actually glad to have someone to talk with. A friendly person, how refreshing.
"There is so much going on right now I'm finding it rather hard to focus in just one interesting person".
Maebh glanced around at the diners and drinkers. Too her it was a bit slow but she loved the hustle and bustle. Then again if one tried to take in everything and what each gesture could mean then yeah there was a lot.
"What catches you eye?" She asked wondering about what sort of things this lady noticed. Maebh had a talent for gathering information and just maybe this woman could be a good source to go to for intel on anything really. Often times people watchers learned the grandest of things.
"Oh dear. I get to embarressed for people. Hmmph. At least it gives me something to do!".
Did Maebh detect a hint of loneliness? SHe grinned backed.
"Care to sign up to share a talent? I might get up later I haven't decided yet on what to do..." It really did depend on if her brother showed up. Unless they were competing against each other she didn't like performing in front of him.
"Oh! I'm Ava. Ava Coroleon!"
"Pleasure Ava, I'm Maebh Breanadan," She said cheerfully shaking the woman's hand with her left instead of her right. "Sorry, wounded shoulder and it really is awkward with the sling. Stupid hex won't heal magically. So...what brings you to the broomsticks tonight?"

Ave looked at the woman, her face still smileing and warm. What catches your eye?. What an odd question. To be quite frank, Ava didn't know what caught her eye. Yes, she enjoyed people watching, but tonight she was just a bit distracted. She turned back to the room and took in all of her surroundings.
"Well" Ava decided to give a more broad answer "Most people enjoy watching the drinkers, because, you know, sometimes they can make fools of themselves. I tend to enjoy watching the diners. I like looking at the dynamics. People in groups are far for interesting then when they're alone"
Ava took another small sip of her butterbeer and looked toward the woman. She was a bit flabbergasted when she suggested she perform.
"To be honest I'm not sure what kind of things they do on talent night here" she thought for a moment "I am quite good at charms, though"
Ava ajusted her arm so that the woman could shake with her good arm. For a moment Ava wondered what had happened, surely if it wasn't serious it could of been healed with a bit of magic. Trying to remain polite, she did not comment on it.
So what brings you to the broomsticks tonight?
Ava decided to remain honest: "I just needed to get out of my house." she said softly "I don't want the people I live with to feel to crowded. What are you doing here?"

"Most people enjoy watching the drinkers, because, you know, sometimes they can make fools of themselves. I tend to enjoy watching the diners. I like looking at the dynamics. People in groups are far for interesting then when they're alone"
"Sometimes, but it's often the quiet ones that have the most to say," Maebh remarked as she turned her seat to face the crowd, her elbows leaning on the counter. All kinds of people were patrons of the Three Broomsticks. As it was night no children were allowed inside. Well, for the most part. A few special kiddies were known to sneak in or be watched in a booth. Rare though.
the woman was not a performer. Really, the poor dear looked about to melt when Maebh suggested treading the boards. It wasn't rocket science. You told a joke, danced a jig, sing a song. Nothing too difficult...maybe embarrassing but not hard.
"To be honest I'm not sure what kind of things they do on talent night here" she thought for a moment "I am quite good at charms, though"
"Play music, sing a song, dance...that kind of thing. Entertainment. Some tell stories. Charms eh? I'm good at a few myself. Tricky color changes are my favorite."
"I just needed to get out of my house." she said softly "I don't want the people I live with to feel to crowded. What are you doing here?"
Ahh a people pleaser. Probably lived with a couple. If it had been a bunch of ladies sharing a flat wouldn't have been a big deal.
"Relaxing. I live in the village, and well I'm enjoying the view," She said with a bright grin as she glanced lasciviously at the very handsome barkeep.
Maybe if she danced a jig she could get him to leave early...

"Play music, sing a song, dance...that kind of thing. Entertainment. Some tell stories. Charms eh? I'm good at a few myself. Tricky color changes are my favorite."
Ava blushed rapidly when the woman she had just met explained what you were actually suppossed to do for talent night. It really has been a long while since I've been out of the house she thought to herself. She was much more social normally than she had been lately. House hunting and planning for next year's classes, as well as babysitting her niece had been taking up the vast majority of her spare time. Infact, she hadn't been out for pleasure in weeks!
"Oh!" Ava squeled "You should definately do something! This sorts of things aren't what I usually do. Ah! yes. I love all charms. I teach it, actually"
Ava was interesed to see what the girl would do if she ended up doing a talent. She quite enjoyed watching what other people were good at. It made them quite happy.
"Relaxing. I live in the village, and well I'm enjoying the view"
Ava turned to the direction in which Maebh was looking, and a small smile went across her face. He was quite handsome. Too bad these are different talents than she actually had, or she would be able to show off a bit for him.

Reckony suddenly slid across the counter from behind the bar and perched himself between the two prettiest ladies in his establishment, his chin coming to rest on his open palm as he joined them in surveying his patrons.
"I swear to God, if Johnson gets up and starts to sing that bloody Dirty Old Town again, I'm going to burn the bar down. I have Keely holding a book of Muggle matches. Then I'm going to retire."
The barkeep kissed Maebh on the cheek and set out to wipe their counter.
"So, what can I get you lovely lasses this evening. Young Miss, I see you're drinking a butterbeer. Can I get you another?" He then turned to Maebh. "Your usual, my love?"
Pike quickly caught site of the large and slightly inebriated Johnson walking towards the stage.
"Excuse me," he spoke quietly to his favourite guests of the night. "Please plug yer ears." Then, in usual Reckony Pike fashion, "STAND DOWN, JOHNSON OR I'LL SHOVE A BLAST ENDED SKREWT UP YER GIGIGOGOTH POINTY END FIRST. THERE'S NO SINGING FOR YOU TONIGHT, LAD. Aye. I'll bring you a round for your troubles."
Heavy sigh.
"What I do to protect your ears." Pike knocked on the table with a playful wink and headed for his finest arsenal of spirits.

A telling shade of pink colored the woman's face. Maebh hadn't meant to embarrass the lady. Really performing complex charms was quite an amazing feat and a talent. Many a people could barely perform rudimentary charms. It just wasn't something one paid to see, now transfiguration more likely. It was still quite amusing to watch someone transform a pig into a dog, or a raven into a writing desk.Charming cheese? Nope, not so much.
"Oh!" Ava squeled "You should definately do something! This sorts of things aren't what I usually do. Ah! yes. I love all charms. I teach it, actually"
The girlish, excited squeal was what did her in. Meabh leaned forward with a wicked grin. "Only if you sing with me. We'll do a simple duet, no solo, unless you want one, really with your help on the chorus and some clapping we'll be smashing!" She grinned winningly, trying to get the woman to agree.
"Nothing to it really, a few, la, la, las, and maybe a gentle sway and you'll be perfect, i know these things i was on stage." And born to a show business family. she'd been a month old when she was in her first show as "sleeping baby".
"Relaxing. I live in the village, and well I'm enjoying the view"
And it was a very nice form too. Reckoy Pike could move a four hundred year old quadruple great grandmother to swoon. Even the charms professor thought so. V did'nt really mind the woman looking at Reck. It was alright to look, it didn't hurt. Only if the line between looking and touching was crossed. A bit of innocent flirting was alright too. then in a flash of movement he was there, in between the two women.
"I swear to God, if Johnson gets up and starts to sing that bloody Dirty Old Town again, I'm going to burn the bar down. I have Keely holding a book of Muggle matches. Then I'm going to retire."
Quickly, Maebh deadpanned but her eyes twinkled with humor, "Really. I think he is quite good. He could teach you a few steps," She teased, holding the joke for a couple of beats before laughing. "I'm kidding of course. He is sweet but I do agree with you. He isn't the most gifted singer. I daresay we should find him a new "talent". "
A smile tugged at her lips and she smiled, her heart skipping when he kissed her cheek. She practically melted into a pool of lust from just that tiny peck. Oh how she longed to turn her cheek just so and capture his lips with hers for all the world to see. But he was working and wasn't paid to give the costumers a show but booze.
"So, what can I get you lovely lasses this evening. Young Miss, I see you're drinking a butterbeer. Can I get you another?" He then turned to Maebh. "Your usual, my love?"
"Of course, thank you darling. Reckony Pike this is my new friend, Ava, Ava darling this is Reckony the night keeper of this fine place."
"He does have a way with words," Maebh whispered conspiratorially into Ava's ear, leaning towards her.She had of course protected her ears a bit but had heard every delicious word.
"What I do to protect your ears."
"My hero," She said with a dramatic hand over her heart...she ruined the swooning innocent act by throwing him a saucy grin.

Ava's eyebrows shot up a bit when Maebh had asked her to sing a duet with her. Ava was hardly a singer at all. Sure, she sang in the shower, but she knew that she had not had the skill to sing in front of a crowd. She did not want to be rude, though. She had just met the woman.
"Well...I'm not sure Maebh..." Ava started, her voice trying to hint to the woman that she was hardly a performer "Maybe if I had a few more butterbeers in me...".
She tried to make light of her non-talent as best as she could, but she was not quite willing to put the guest of the Three Broomsticks in such pain whilst she was singing. Ava jumped when the man appeared in between the two women. She was quite jumpy tonight, and she supposed it was due to the enormous amount on her mind.
When the man kissed Maebh on the cheek, Ava had hoped she hadn't offened the woman by agreeing with her on the fact that the man was handsome. Ava assumed that they were in a relationship quickly, as she usualy did.
"Young miss, I see you're drinking a butterbeer, can I get you another?"
Ava looked down at her now almost-empty glass and looked back up at the man. She decided it wouldn't hurt for her to have another one. Afterall, she was in the company of people that seemed like they wouldn't judge her for having another.
"Ava, this is Reckony, the night keeper of this fine place"
"Sure" she said with a smile "I would love one. I'm Ava Coroleon, nice to meet you Reckony"
Ava politely held out her hand to shake the man's hand, as she usually did when meeting someone new.
Ava plugged her ears when she was instructed to do so, but still heard Reconky yell at the man who seemed life he was a regular at The Three Broomsticks. She assumed that the man had had a good reason for yelling at the man, because he seemed friendly enough. Being the night keeper of the Three Broomsticks must mean you have to put up with a lot, and Ava was not one to judge at one's decibal level.

Reckony glanced periodically from his concoctions to the counter, enjoying the banter taking place between the two women. He had been so worried for Maebh after her attack; the gypsy's recovery was a work in progress but it warmed him to see that she was at the point where she could at least partake in the activities that brought her happiness. Like people-watching. Maebh loved a crowd. He wasn't entirely surprised she chose Talent Night to make her debut.
Reckony brought their drinks over, serving the tankards with a house-made, fire-grilled pizza. He eyed Maebh playfully.
"So my love, how does one go about making a special request for your performance? I seem to recall a very engaging move utilizing a scarf. There may have even been a bell. I'm just saying...Not that one of the judges is offering a buy-out on his vote, but yes he is. Miss Ava, are you inspired to share your talents with us tonight? Maybe the two of you could cook up something and spare me the WitchB*tch stand-up routine that I've been dreading since Sunday."

Ahh eyebrows. Probably the most expressive feature on the face. Some people said it was the eyes that were the windows of the soul but not really. Sure, they showed a lot but eyebrows held the true power. It seemed that Ava, here was not keen on performing. How sad, Maebh was convinced that it would have been fun, even if the woman just lip synced. Truly, Maebh wasn't the most talented singer. Oh, she could carry a tune and had a pretty enough alto voice, but she wasn't spectacular. Average, and happy to be so. She had a talent for being artistically inclined. She could sing, dance and act a bit, but wasn't more than good at all of them.
"Well...I'm not sure Maebh..." Ava started, her voice trying to hint to the woman that she was hardly a performer "Maybe if I had a few more butterbeers in me...".
"That could be arranged...but whiskey is quicker," she teased.
"You don't have to perform. I don't want to pressure you, but it would be fun, and a pretty girl pleases this crowd." V smiled as Reck, popped in between them causing Ava to jump. Ahh their muse finally came to him. It was no secret that Reckony was eye catching. There was something about him, a kind of magnetism that drew glances. Really, she didn't mind as long as nothing came of the looks. She trusted Reckony and despite all of the longing glances, and numbers slipped into his apron pocket, she knew he wouldn't cheat on her. He wasn't that kind of person.
"Ahh food, you spoil me," She teased, flashing s grin at Reckony. He was very kind and she felt extremely grateful for knowing him.
"So my love, how does one go about making a special request for your performance? I seem to recall a very engaging move utilizing a scarf. There may have even been a bell. "Smoke signals, " She dead panned, maintaining eye contact for at least twenty seconds before turning to Ava and winking, "The only way I take requests." With a flick of her wand she conjured a gauzy mauve scarf and a belt of tiny bells and coins. It was corny and stereotypical gypsy but she liked it and best of all she knew he liked it.
"Will this do?"

"Smoke signals. The only way I take requests."
A surge of warmth radiated from the pit of Reckony's stomach, causing the barkeep to clear his throat in a manner that said, oh damn. Maebh was the only woman to have ever had such an effect on him and he couldn't say that he didn't love it. A lot. She was intelligent, strong, resourceful, wry...so, so, so unlike the type of lass who usually tried to offer him a place in their bed. Reckony didn't scream "easy," but the assumption sometimes came with the territory, and nothing turned him off more.
How did he get so lucky? He had an unusual number of lucky breaks for someone who was such a terror in his adolescence. He had hit rock bottom, nearly lost his life, and yet he had managed to find his way in to the arms and care of individuals who felt him worthy enough for a second chance. Maebh Breandan was the most significant of these encounters. She was his diamond. And there was nothing he would do to lose her. But back to the scarf.
"Will this do?"
"Capital." Pike took a deep breath, trying to quell the sensations that were now emanating through his body. His voice was slightly higher than normal. "If you will excuse me, I'm just going to set a barrel on fire. Signals..." He left the women with a slight blush upon his cheeks.

Having arrived in the pub a few minutes earlier, taking a seat quietly near the bar, Ralin had a full view of the discussion between Reckony and the two women. Maebh was indeed a beautiful woman, but even better, she was a clever witch with a bright spirit. It was good to see her up and about again.
He couldn't stop a chuckle from escaping him, seeing a slight flush at Reck's eartips. The brawny man usually wasn't such a softie for a woman's attention, but it was clear Maebh had him wrapped around her finger.
"Setting a barrel on fire, eh?" Ralin teased quietly as Reck passed his seat. "Watch out for that one mate, she'll steal your heart. Oh wait, she did." The Irish lad winked.

"Setting a barrel on fire, eh? Watch out for that one mate, she'll steal your heart. Oh wait, she did."
The dulcet Irish lilt caused Reckony to spy over his shoulder and turn. a grin following very quickly behind.
"Smart ass. And who are you to lecture me on barrel fires there, boy? I seem to recall saving your butt from a number of close infernos and near disasters. And when your wee eye finally manages to catch someone of the fairer sex, then you can talk to me about having one's heart stolen. It's more like whipped, is what it is. That one casts a spell on me. Once, twice, three times the Veela, if you know what I mean. Drink?" Without waiting for an answer, Reckony grabbed an iced butterbeer from the cooler and cracked it open for his young friend's enjoyment.
"So, I haven't seen you around in a while. Are you here to entertain or be entertained?"
