"I thought you were making dinner tonight," Max's arms wrapped loosely around his father's black-and-white patched hair, clinging awkwardly to Curse as he was carried on his shoulders.
"I ordered take out, this is me making dinner," Curse replied bluntly to his son, ducking down low so the two could clear the doorway out of the Leaky Cauldron and into the Muggle World. "This is the best Chinese place in East London, you'll love it. It will be infinitely better than anything I can make, I promise."
"Do they have egg rolls?" Max queried, licking his lips as he looked forward at the London streets. Living with Curse and his endless appetite for takeout, Max had started developing his own taste for the various types of inner-city London cuisine.
"Only the best," Curse smiled as they rounded a corner, looking up where he was going just a little too late. His hands went upwards to keep Max steady when he ran into another Londoner around the corner. "Sorry," He mumbled to the person he ran into, pulling Max up and over his shoulders and setting him down on the sidewalk. "Maybe we should keep you on the ground instead."
"Okay," Max smiled up at Curse and took his dad's bony hand as they walked the London streets. "Are we there yet?"

Nuriko whistled softly as she strolled down the street, hands in her pockets. She wasn't one overly fascinated with muggles, but neither did she find them abhorrent. The energetic American merely saw them as another, less spectacular type of person. If asked to elaborate on this fact, all she could offer was a shrug. Muggles just were. That's all there was to it.
But they made the best rocky road ice cream.
Or rather, the little old woman behind the counter of the Olde Iced Cream Shoppe did. It was a little early in the year (and in the evening, she hadn't had her meal yet) for ice cream. Simple discrepancies like that couldn't detour Nuri, however, and she licked the cone, preventing the escape of the melted treat.

"No, Max," Curse sighed, smiling crookedly as Max ran ahead. "Don't get too far ahead!"
Max glanced behind him at his father, speeding up slightly to increase the space between them. He liked to keep Curse on his toes every now and then. It was a son's job to bother his father, wasn't it? "Better hurry up!" Max yelled over his shoulder as he rounded a corner and promptly ran into someone.
"Oh--" SPLT.
Max looked down at what caused the noise: a splattered scoop of ice cream smeared over Max's shoes. He frowned, looking up at the poor pedestrian who lost their ice cream. "Sorr--NURIKO!" Max grinned up at the Hogwarts student, bouncing happily backwards to give Riko some space. "I'm sorry I spilled your ice cream!" Though he was truly sorry, Max couldn't get rid of the grin on his face. He loved running into friends.
"Max, for Merlin's sake--" Curse stopped himself as he rounded the corner and saw Nuriko. His scarred face broke out into a warm smile, his emerald eyes meeting the metamorphagus as he came up behind Max. "Nuriko! Fancy running into you here... In Downtown London..." The professor's brow furrowed, though his smiled stayed "...on a Thursday."
He arched a wry brow at the young Ravenclaw, his emerald eyes darting between her and Max's sticky shoes. "I suppose I can give you a pass since my son spilled your treat," He chuckled lightly as he picked Max up under one arm, his son yelping slightly in surprise as he did. "Care to join us? I'm sure there's plenty of lo mein to go around..."

Nuriko worked on a particularly large clump of nuts, the walnuts had frozen together and were proving difficult to crack. She paused in the sidewalk, screwing up her face, her eyes reverting to mere slits as she sought to bring her teeth to bear on the problem.
SPLT.
“’ey!” She objected, her word muffled by the nuts she was swallowing. She opened her eyes and… looked up. Of course, it was still slightly up, but still. Her scowl split into a grin, and the loss of her ice cream was mourned but put to the side. “MAX!” She enveloped the kid in a huge hug, bouncing with more excitement than the child.

The professor's brow furrowed, though his smiled stayed "...on a Thursday."
“Err… ” Riko’s features took on a slightly sheepish cast, “Uh, yup, fancy that!” A grin crept back onto her face, she was unable to keep down for long. “Um, yeah. You didn’t see me!” Her features morphed, changing into that of a random passer-by. Her utterly mischievous look remained, however.

“Food? Really? You need only ask once!” Nuriko fell into step with the long-legged Kameren, having to trot to keep up with his easy strides. “And I’ll get you ice cream later!” She whispered to Max.
