Nuriko loved spring. It was a wonderful time of year. Birds singing, merpeople playing in the lake, and all sorts of creatures came out of their hiding places for the winter as the change of seasons brought warmer air and green things to this hidden place in Scotland.
And there were the foals. The thestrals were having their foals for the year, and though they were ungainly and even ugly, ‘Riko still found them as irresistible as foals back home on her parents farm. She invariably brought snacks and treats-- every year since her second. Carefully cubed for the young foals, larger slabs for the yearlings and adults. It had gotten to where most of the herd knew her and what she brought.
She finished passing out the meat and stood stroking the long bony face of one of the older mares, who had precedence in the herd and who had eaten first. The sun broke through the canopy of the forest and lit the clearing, feeling warm on her back.

An owl floated above Nuriko and went past the Forbidden forest. The owl landed on Hisoka’s stretched out arm and he pulled a cigarette out from his lips. “Mmm. I see.” He murmured softly and threw his arm up, the owl flying off and heading away. Sticking the cigarette back in his mouth he began his long march to the Forbidden Forest. It seemed that there was a student who should not be in there. A strand of hair was all he needed from the owl to confirm he needed to check this out. Going into the forest he wasn’t scared at all. It was a place he used to sneak to all the time himself, to get away. Going further into the forest he finally made the clearing and saw the Thestrals. Tilting his head he moved in further, one of the Thestral’s coming up to him and nuzzling him.
Smiling he stroked the nose of the dark beast, and then shook his head. “No distraction today lass.” He spoke, pulling the cigarette out and blowing a ring of smoke into the air. Moving more into the herd he wasn’t afraid of the creatures. After his lover had committed suicide he saw them not soon after. Hisoka even mistook them for the grim reaper and he had thought they were going to take him to his lover. Ah well, that was all in the past as he closed his eyes for a minute before sticking the cancer stick back into his mouth.
Then he finally spotted what he was looking for. A student amongst the middle of the Thestrals and he sighed. Squaring back his shoulders and trying to seem tough, although his whole black look might help a little, except it was sunny out, he marched over to the student. Pulling out the cigarette he stared at her with cold eyes that were easy to muster up. “Excuse me miss but you know it be against the school rules to be out here. This ain’t called the Merry Forest for nothin’.” At least he found the student and would be able to protect her in case some other creatures came along. Like werewolves, or worse.

“Excuse me miss but you know it be against the school rules to be out here. This ain’t called the Merry Forest for nothin’.”
“’Tisn’t called the Merry Forest at all.” ’Riko replied absently and even a smidge flippantly. She was now engaged in grooming the short, nearly translucent black coat of one of the herd’s younger stallions. He snorted and eyed the newcomer to his herd-- he was male and therefore a threat, but the stallion had no real authority in the herd and the man even brought treats at times. “Shhh.” ’Riko soothed, though getting any of the magical creatures to do so mundane a thing as ‘Shhh’ really had no hope of occurring unless the thestrals wished, of course.
“So, I suppose I’m in trouble then?” She asked the groundskeeper, still focusing much of her attention on the flying horse. Her hair tinged slightly orange in places, giving an interesting effect to her already electric blue locks.

Tardiness was unacceptable.
Eden cringed as one of her grandmother's many mantras sounded in her head. Little Eden Fletcher had over slept, which rarely happened, as she rarely slept. It was a talent of hers, truly, she needed little sleep to be a ball of energy. Well, most of the time that was true. Sometimes she needed lots of sleep but her active mind did not indulge her body. But thoughts of sleep were boring and not going to help Eden at all. She'd promised her friend Nuri that they would feed the threstals together. It had become a sort of ritual for them. It was nice to finally have friends beside her brother and Professor Kameren.
Short legs awkwardly swayed as she ran, an inexperienced runner, her heels tapping each other as she moved. Eventually, out of breath she made it to the forest. She stopped running and began to quietly make her way through the trees. She was nearly to the clearing when she heard a strange male voice. Someone was lecturing nuri. Or so she guessed. There was something familiar in the drawl. Probably some staff member. The little seer practically knew every person who worked at Hogwarts as she meander around the halls half asleep.
Slowly, Eden peered around a tree, careful to keep her blond head hidden as she watched. She nearly got away with her spying if it wasn't for a baby threstal. The creature smelt her and snorted before running at her. Ooops.
The creature pushed her our of her hiding spot and into the clearing, Eden gave the baby a piece of meat that she had brought with her.
"Good baby." She called out, as the kid ate the meat. Eden walked up besides Nuri, her gaze traveling the length of the older man. It was the grounds keeper.
"She's with me. So it's entirely my fault sir. I forced her to come here..." She said lying. She was very temped to say it was a vision that led her here but then if she lied would he ever believe her if it actually was the truth?
