Temperament/Mental Attributes: Emmi is a hard nut to crack. For people who don't know her well, she can appear a spacey, fun loving blonde with little threat to anyone or anything. However, that facade hides a smart mind and an agile body. Emmi tends to be a bit hot tempered and hot headed but shes smart as a whip. Shes learned to harness her need for action into lethal intent at work but remains a vivacious, outgoing person in normal every day life.
Strengths: Emmi's best strengths are her fast thinking and ability to assemble facts quickly. Never one to really let her guard down, she is quick on the uptake and always ready for action. She is also extremely loyal and fierce in her protection of the ones she cares about and loves. This has gotten her into trouble a few times but she can't help it. Its just her nature.
Weaknesses: Well, in this, Emmi takes after her father. She is a bit sarcastic and has a dry humor. She also pushes herself to be the best she can be and can sometimes exhaust herself beyond the true need. History-
Born to Gabriel and Nicole Douglas, Emmi came into a world of magic on Sept 22, 2003. Her father played quidditch for Scotlands Highlander's and her mother was attending a championship game when she felt the first contractions. Deciding that they weren't bad, Nicole ignored them until she suddenly felt her water break. A darling little blond haired elf came into the world just as Gabriel manage to catch the game winning snitch and the whole stadium was there to celebrate both events with the proud parents.
After another couple years playing pro Quiditch, Gabriel resigned after a bad injury and the family went back to England so he could take up a post in the Magical Games and Sports section of the Ministry of Magic. Nicole soon became unenchanted with the life of a regular wizarding family and began to grow bitter. A squib herself, the young mother started to resent her own daughter as the child began to show signs of magical ability. It was made worse by the children who came to play with her young daughter who were able to do simple tricks she could never attempt.
By the time Emmi was ready to head off to Hogwarts, all show of affection had vanished and Nicole announced her intention to divorce Gabriel and live amoung the muggles. Crushed, the young girl headed off to school and has never seen her mother since. Gabriel tried to make up for the lose but it wasn't actually much different than when Nicole was at home because she never gave her daughter any attention anyways.
From there, school was the thing that gave Emmi strength. Arriving at the school, the young blond soon found herself in love with the game of Quiditch and became the Griffindor seeker in her second year. With a new bunch of friends and a new goal in life, she applied herself diligently to her studies and was a bit of a book worm even while being in the middle of everything. Her best subject was Defense of the Dark Arts and it was there that she decided that her future would be as an auror with the Ministry.
The fifth year of Hogwarts she achieved the honor of Prefect and Captain of the Griffindor quiditch team. With her father beaming in pride, she helped her team win another house cup before graduation and then turned down several offers to play professionally before heading to the Ministry.
For the last few years, she been training and proving herself to be a sharp asset to the Ministry. After leaving Hogwarts, her life took a definite turn for the ... interesting. Being assigned to Curse Kameren was the greatest honor and greatest test of her life all rolled into one.
Honestly, on hind sight, she supposed she probably should have figured that working for such a high profile senior auror would attract trouble like bees to honey but... All in all, she wouldn't have changed anything really. She learned more working along side Curse and his brother Alex than she could ever have hoped to with another mouse of an auror.
During this time, a dark movement was a foot and Emmi, herself, landed in the middle of it. One night while out at hte local tavern, she managed to drink a poison meant for Curse and wavered between life and death for a few days while her mentor worked to find an antidote. Even after her recovery, she was forced into hiding and the world believed her dead for her own safety.
Little did she know, during this time the same mentor who'd slaved away to save her went under the wand for her murder. When she was finally learned the news, she cast off the restrictions placed on her by well meaning friends and family and went back to the Ministry where she worked to free her mentor from all charges against her and others in the mysterious poisonings. Between her partner, Alex, and her efforts, they were able to mostly clear Curses name and he was freed.
Only to be named Head of the Magical Law Enforcement office and promptly begin a down hill slide that effected everyone within the office. Doing her best to take up the slack and cover for the various glitchs that arose, Emmi worked herself hard and spared little time for herself. For months she slaved over case files and grew frustrated by the going on's around her and when Curse finally left the Ministry, she stayed on for as long as she could stand.
Disheartened by what she saw as the failure of the system and the cowardly actions of others, she turned in her auror robes and left the Ministry. Unsure what she was going to to, she somehow found herself setting up shop in her own little investigative firm that contained precisely ONE employee and a cat. IT was definitely slow going and business didn't come easy but what she did get, she felt she made count. She was proud of the little good she did but was unsurprised when she found herself being followed by members of the Ministry and hounded about special licenses and other "permits". Forced to jump through their loops for the moment, the young woman smiled toothily until she made sure everything was in line and she once again had time to take on some interesting cases. Cases that fueled her fire to see justice done and just desserts served up.
And made others very nervous about what she might or might not turn up.
At least, she did until her Father became deathly ill and she was called home to Scotland. For the last two years, shes been taking care of her father, putting his affairs in order and dealing with the crippled grief that comes from not being able to help a loved one. Six months ago, Gabriel finally scummed to the illness that was eating away at him and Emmi has recently returned to London to take up her former occupation.
Having kept in contact with various old friends, Emmi's first priority is checking in with Curse and Alex Kameren. Rumor's have reached her ears about strange happenings and once again, her fighting spirit raises its head in the face of unjustice. Only time will tell how far her experiences will take her and what trials await her in this never ending war against black magic.
