Alrighty! Welcome to Riko’s handy-dandy profile guide!
Let’s get started! We’ll start with the beginning and work our way through, shall we?
Name: Seems pretty easy, yes? Fill in your character’s full name; now’s also a good time to add any titles, nicknames or aliases.
Age: Also easy. Be sure to remember what time of year your character was born, and perhaps check the month the site is on. An added touch is a character who hasn’t yet passed their birthday showing that here.
Birthdate/Place: Fairly easy, yes? Please use the format provided! And do not forget where Jane or John was born!
Gender: Female or male
Family: Here’s a good place to list family members. Some people list ages and occupations as well. You could do a short family history, even. Be sure to put in your blood status! If a character is a squib, put down your family’s blood status.
Appearance:
Build/height- Is your character short and squat? Tall and lean? Tall and built like a brick wall? Short and way too thin? Average? Twisted? Crooked? This can be just a few words, later we will do the more extensive description.
General Description- Your character is unique. Give a more in-depth description. If you’re stuck think of your character’s personality. This will affect how they dress, how they carry themselves. How will I recognize your character if I walk in the room? Will they be in the corner? In the middle of the group?
Remember, a person’s background may affect how they dress. Purebloods may wear robes, while a Muggleborn might be more comfortable in jeans. You never know. Remember things like hair color, eye color, and scars or birthmarks.
Possessions- You needn’t list everything down to the W.C., but do go for the basics (Owns a dog, has a favourite book or broom…)
Personality:
Temperament/Mental Attributes- How does your character think? Are they prejudiced? Accepting? Do they hate to cook? Are they lazy? How easily they get upset? There are so many possibilities here. Have fun with it, but try to write concisely. Also consider how events in their life has effected them. Strong emotional events show in the personality.
Alliance- Loyalty. Who is your character loyal to? What group of people? Do they only care for themselves?
Alignment- See post below.
Strengths/Weaknesses- Separate them somehow, so the reader can tell which is which easily. This is a defining part of your character. This will reflect your character’s personality, give a little more information on character flaws or virtues.
Employment&Education:
-Students-
House- You can pick it, or you may ask a staff member to chose for you.
Year- Well, what year is your student in? Remember, if they were born after Sept. 1st, they would start school as an almost-twelve year old.
OWLs/NEWTs- This is optional, but really fun. You needn’t list them all, or even name classes. You could merely say “Jane got four E’s” if you wish.
-Adults-
Former House- Did they attend Hogwarts? What was their house?
Job- There are many jobs available in the Wizarding world. Think like Jane or John. What type of job would fit them?
Employer- Who employs your character?

Other:
Magical Skills- This is optional, you may wish to note any specific skills here.
Patronus- Only if applicable. DO NOT post an animal here ‘just because’ its cool. It MUST represent your character. Try to remember that some can’t cast this spell, or can only cast a ‘shield’ form.
Wand- Typical wands are between 9” and 12”. Very few are longer or shorter. For the cores, there are many different cores available. Try an ordinary core, try a rarer core. They usually reflect your character.
Goals/Aspirations- Optional. What motivates your character?
Other Information- Optional. Anything you’d like us to know about Jane or John?
History- This is a big part of your character. The past defines them, makes them who they are. It starts at birth and goes all the way to the present. I like to update my bios after a few months, but you don’t have to. Try to include the current plot. What does your character think about it?
How was school for them? How is work? How is school, how was their childhood? Go ahead, they’re in your control!
