Sometimes it comes naturally to a RPG, sometimes it doesn't. Its a web that connects people. In your schools, your teachers all know each other, even if they don't often hang out. You know those in your grade, even if only by sight as 'that one kid always with the book.' Your manager knows the other managers by name, at the very least.
