Name: Rosabelle Grace Ross (Rosie or Rose) Age: Fifteen Birthdate/place: [20-05-2005] Glasgow, Scotland Species: Human Wizard Gender: Female Family: Muggle Born Mother- Hanna Ross (Muggle, Reporter, 45) Father- Rhys Ross (Muggle, Engineer, Deceased) Brother- Duke Ross (Muggle, Student, 12)
Appearance: Build/height- Rosie’s wouldn’t stand out of a crowd. She isn’t as tall as a freakin tree or with the waistline of muggle supermodels. When she walks in a crowd, no one stops to stare. She is a normal human being, nothing extraordinary in her appearance. Reaching only 168 centimeters (five foot, six inches), she cannot be considered short but she is not tall by any means. She also weighs around 59 kilograms (125lbs), which doesn’t tip the scales but also doesn’t show any ribs or gives a tiny waist for those of the opposite gender to stare at. Instead, she almost looks bigger than she really is.
Though, under her uniform and robes, one would not be able to tell but she has shoulders, much larger than most. Due to her obsession with the muggle sport of swimming, she does possess a little extra muscle than the typical teenager but most times, no one ever sees it. Rosie, despite the usual female student wearing a skirt, she refuses to do so. Not because she dislikes skirts or believes that she has to be one of the boys, rather, she hates the look of her knees. It sounds shallow at first but if one were to take a good look at them, people would agree. Due to bad genetics, Rose is terribly knock-kneed and if she were to put her feet together, they look to almost be touching each other. Another reason she does not like the skirts Hogwarts offers is due to her legs being much longer than her torso. In the sweater and pants, no one can tell but with the skirt, she would rather hide the fact of disproportion.
General Description- [HAIR] Rosie’s hair could be called blonde but that is pushing it. Despite being born a towhead, over the years the color has darkened to a dark blonde/pale brown, it depends on the person looking at her hair. On top of the unnatural looking color, one can tell that it hasn’t be cared that well for. Split ends and frizz is abundant and obviously not treated. It has been abused by years of chlorine and being thrown into hair bands and clips. Once, it had been a long beautiful wave of gold but has been reduced a messy dirty blonde that is rarely seen down at its actual shoulder-length. Instead, it is always hurriedly put up in a tail or a bun.
[EYES] Her eyes would be the lightest blue of a beautiful sky and they would be stunning if she didn’t choose to wear a pair of mistreated and foggy glasses. Cursed with a terrible case of near-sightedness, Rosie can barely see past her own hands without her glasses on. Thick-framed and a bit awkward on her face, they hide her eyes and barely achieve their goal of improving eyesight due to the fact that Rosie never takes the time to clean them. She does possess muggle contacts but they are buried at the bottom of her trunk, unused. She says that they hurt her eyes and she refuses to wear them.
[OTHER] There are other things besides her messy appearance that people notice about Rosie. One characteristic that makes Rosie herself is her crooked nose. Due to an accident which involved getting into a fight with a classmate during her primary years, her nose was broken. Not by a fist of the other kid, instead she tripped over his foot and managed to faceplant into the ground. Her nose has always been a bright red color and a bit crooked since then. Another noticeable feature is the white scar that scores her right cheek. It was given to her by the family dog when she was younger when a game of roughhousing got out of hand. The dog had scratched Rosie’s face with its nail, leaving several marks. One in particular scarred and it is quite visible when her cheeks are flushed and the scar is left white.
[CLOTHING] When in her uniform, Rosie chooses not to wear the typical girl’s uniform. Instead, she chooses to wear a modified version of the boy’s uniform that is counted as acceptable. She wears the typical boy’s slacks, covering her knobby and abnormal knees. On top, she wears a button-up white shirt, the tie of her house colors and finally a slightly oversized gray sweater over it. She refuses to wear the girl’s uniform, mostly due to stubbornness and the lack of appeal it has towards her. She is also famous for wearing her house scarf at all times, even outside during the summer. During the weekend or times she is not required to wear her uniform, she chooses to be in her muggle clothes. She prefers a good pair of jeans and a t-shirt over any other articles of clothing. Overall, Rosie prefers muggle clothing to the robes and cloaks of the wizarding world and at any chance, she will wear her own clothes over stuff bought at Diagon Alley.
Possessions- It is a simple black cord necklace with a wooden star on the end, in which her last name is engraved. The trinket is a bit childish but she has had it since she was young and prefers to wears it every day. It helps her remember who she is and that she has a life outside of Hogwarts. She also promised her mother that she would always wear it.
Her most prized possession, brought with her from her muggle hometown is a large sweatshirt that reads ‘SWIM TEAM’. It is big, black and the letters are scrawled across in white, the ink slightly cracked due to years of use. She wears it as much as she can and will even end up in class with it on if she forgets to take it off. The sweatshirt is also covered in white dog hair which still refuses to come off despite all of Rosie’s efforts.
Personality: Temperment/Mental Attributes- [SARCASTIC] Half of what comes out of Rosie’s mouth is usually blunt and a bit harsh. She uses sarcasm as an idiot repellent, to separate herself from those that she doesn’t want to be associated with. Rose uses it as a defense system; she believes that it helps her determine who her friend is and who her enemy is. Most of the time, this is apparent to every student with her sharp remarks and refusal to filter what comes to mind and what comes out of her mouth. She does let this trait slip a bit when around friends. Towards those that she cares for, the sharper edges of her sarcasm are smoothed over. She would prefer not to lose her friends over her need to make cold remarks.
[STUDIOUS] Good grades are important to Rosie. It isn’t unusual to see her with a book in her lap or a quill in hand. She prefers to get decent grades and to excel, to prove to the wizard world that she isn’t some stupid girl having grown apart from the rest of the wizarding world. Rose makes a point to always be ahead of the game and to appear as smart as she can. Despite this, Rose does have a bit of a lazy streak and will fall behind at times when she just doesn’t feel like doing much. Though, once she realizes that she is not at her usual position of being head of the game, she will kick her butt into gear and once again jump ahead of the rest of the class. And then once again get lazy. It’s a vicious cycle for Rose.
[GOOD-HUMORED] Despite the sarcastic nature, Rosie has a good sense of humor. Jokes are second nature to Rose, even though she cannot tell them worth a damn; she almost always sees the difference between a joke and truth. She isn’t easily offended or humiliated by a well-meant prank. She is not about to hold a grudge if one of her friends causes her to do something stupid or embarrassing. Instead, she bound to laugh along with the others at her own idiocy. Rose is well-known for this, she is often the one to laugh at her own faults and understands that no one is perfect and that includes her.
[RECKLESS] There sometimes to be no reasoning behind Rosie. Some of what she does is unexpected and not always for the best. She doesn’t think before she acts, causing acts of unneeded bravery that later causes trouble for her and her friends. This girl seems to lack the ability to think through situations, consequences and benefits, instead charging headfirst into the situation, for better or for worse. There is no planning ahead in the world of Rosabelle Ross. She believes that life is too short to walk, so you better run.
[LOYAL] Friends are sometimes more important than grades to Rose. Due to her own upbringing, she has been taught that family and those that you love come above anything else. This makes Rosie unafraid to stand up for her friends, whether the situation is hopeless or not. She isn’t afraid to make a fool of herself or to send a few insults flying to defend someone she is close to. At times, she even sees herself as the protector of her friends and often blames her own actions if something goes wrong. It also takes some time for a person like Rose to realize when she has been betrayed. Her own loyalty to those that she loves often blinds her.
Alliance-None Alignment- Neutral
Strengths/Weaknesses- Strengths: Animals- They were always something that Rosie had been interested in and in return, animals seemed to like her. Despite her usually loud and aggressive disposition, that changes around anything less than human. Probably due to her upraising with dogs and an assortment of pets, Rosie has always been drawn towards anything furry, feathery, or scaly. Sometimes, it seems as though she is more attached to animals than to other people.
Writing- She loves doing this and it has always been a strong skill of hers. Above any kind of homework or assignment, Rosie prefers to write an essay. She is always excited to write something and could be taken advantage because of this. But it doesn’t really seem to matter since she would happily write any kind of paper with a smile.
Arguing- Rosie always seems to have a good grasp of what to say and how to influence the opinions of others. She is a strongly opinionated girl and over time has learned how to argue quite fluently and always get her point across. It is a rare occurrence that Rose is rendered speechless and when she is, it often frustrates her and that is when the one who upset her should watch their backs.
Weaknesses: Hand-Eye Coordination/Balance- In other words, Rosie doesn’t have any. Since she was a small child, she has lacked the ability to catch or throw any kind of object accurately. Throw something at her and she is bound to miss it. Rosie also seems to have no sense of balance and she is often tripping on her own feet and falling. She is in constant battle with her own feet to keep upright.
Socially Awkward- Rose doesn’t have the ability to speak to anyone. She has a hard time breaking the ice and starting conversations, and she has done nothing to fix this. To this day, she still avoids having to start conversations and has to wait in the back until someone else talks to her. Also lacking a filter between her brain and mouth, some of what she says comes out wrong. Terribly wrong.
Employment&Education: -Students- House- Gryffindor Year- Fifth OWLs/NEWTs- Yet to be taken
Other: Patronus- Undiscovered (Squirrel) Wand- Dragon Heartstring, 10 ½ inches, Oak, strong and good for Transfiguration
History- Growing up the daughter of a single mother is hard in the first place. It gets harder when you a strange and weird child that is pointed out every single day, life gets even harder. Rosabelle was always the child left out. Her name first separated her from her classmates, for it wasn’t the most common name, despite the semi-normal nickname. Second, her socially awkward ways kept her a distance away from her classmates. Finally, her ability to know things and to do things that were not possible. It was almost magical the way she did things. Strange happenings went on around Rosie. The other children stayed away from her, not wanting to get in trouble because of her strange actions.
Her mother always brushed it off as her daughter taking after her father. Despite the fact that Rose has never known her father, he died in a car crash before she reached the age of five; she somehow seemed too much like him for her own good. Rhys Ross was a strange man full of different habits and obsessions that set him apart from everyone else. That included dying his hair bright blue on several occasions and developing a love for collecting various toys and games. He was always a bit of a manchild but he was still a respectable man and earned good money for his family. He was sorely missed when he was killed in an accident, leaving his wife with their two children.
Hanna Ross could only imagine the look on her husband’s face if he had ever learned that Rosie was a witch. He would have probably been ecstatic. When Rosie herself and her mother found out, they were a bit less than that. At first, Rose had been so stunned and Hanna furious at the arrival of the wizards, that it seemed as if Rosie wasn’t going to go to Hogwarts. Though, through hours of convincing, the two finally agreed and Rose was going to be sent to the Wizarding School.
Rose wasn’t a bad student at Hogwarts. Her abilities were shaky at first, having never been around magic in her entire life. She also fit in a bit better. It was only her weird personality that kept some people away. The strange occurrences that happened around her turned out to be normal at this abnormal school. No one gave her strange looks anymore or teased her for the strange accidents that seemed to happen around her.
Despite not being the strangest student any longer, Rose still had trouble getting along with her fellow classmates. Her sharp tongue and social awkwardness kept those that wanted to be her friends away and made her enemies. Due to this lack of friends and reasons to be avoiding homework, Rose plunged into her school work and did her best in each of her classes. One class that she excelled in from the start was Transfiguration; it would remain a passion for her. Though, it wasn’t until her third year that she discovered the one class she loved, and that was Care of Magical Creatures.
Animals were always her specialty and now Rose seemed to have found a place she belonged and it was in that class. She ended up drawing further into her shell, burying herself in books and all the knowledge she could collect on these magical animals. Especially one certain type of magical creature and that was dragons. Somebody ask her a question about dragons and she can give an immediate response.
At the start of her fifth year, Rose is ready for another year of studying and hard work. She briefly considered making friends, to get past her social awkwardness and finally meet people in her year but then she decided that it wasn’t worth the effort.

'Fore we start here, I'd like to say a quick hello. It's nice to have you on the site. Okay, enough chit-chat, let's get started. I love the detail here; she's really a nicely made character. However, I would like just a sentence or two extra about her history while at school--y'know, just to see how she stands right now in terms of friends, classes, and general opinion of the school. Also, be sure to watch out, there are some grammatical errors sprinkled throughout. Hardly the worst I've seen, though, and I'm still very pleased with this. Just take care of this and she's accepted.

I added a bit to the history. If it's enough, let me know. I don't have enough time tonight to add anything more and search for the grammar mistakes. If it''s fine, accept it but if I need to fix some things up, just tell me. c:

This'll do just fine. And you don't need to go back to correct them, just watch out in the future. Accepted.
