Name: Briallan Evans[/u]
Age: 31
Birthdate/place: [12-04-1990] April 12, 1990
Species: Human - Pureblood
Gender: Female
Family: Tadhg Evans - St. Mungo's Healer [62]
Áine Evans - Department of Magical Transportation - Head [53]
Appearance:
Build/height- For a woman, Briallan is exceedingly tall and intimidating. Standing at 6'1", 148 pounds, she tends to turn heads when she walks in a room.
General Description-Other than her extreme height, the next thing one notices about the woman is her hair. It is a healthy red-orange that stands out like a sore thumb, cut to barely reach her bony shoulders. Her brown eyes glare from behind long, thick eyelashes, seated above her dainty nose. Her lips are full and a startling pink against her pale skin, directly above a pointed chin. On occasion, she will enhance her features with light-hued makeup; however, it is rare for her to use more than eyeshadow and mascara. Because of her age, she has begun to form frown lines around her mouth and between her shapely eyebrows, yet this makes her no less becoming.
Her long arms are proportionate with the length of her torso, her slim hands most likely to be resting on her hips. She is girlish in her dress, opting to wear fashionable clothing from the highest wizarding retailers when not in class.
Briallan has no scars that are keen to the eye. Most are from mishaps as a child or simple mistakes as an adult. Nothing about her is outstanding.
Possessions- She has plenty of belongings, such as high-class clothing/dress robes, necessities, and the like, but here is what she cherishes most. Her tabby cat, Malky, is (next to her wand) her most beloved belonging. Malky's nasty demeanor matches that of her owner and one is hardly ever seen without the other.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes- To the untrained eye, Briallan is a caring professor, one who teaches her class with the utmost passion. She is polite in her manner but only enough so to not be detected by her fellow professors. Beneath her painted mask is someone completely different, however. To students, she is just barely tolerable. Some students are treated like gold while others are looked down upon and usually made fun of. The professor doesn't hand-pick those that she treats well. As sick as others may see it, she goes by matters of Blood Status. Pure-bloods are held in the highest regard by her, half-bloods barely acknowledged, and Muggle-borns reviled. She believes that Hogwarts should not accept "Mudbloods" and that breeding with Muggles is simply polluting the magical gene pool. None of the other professors suspect that she is anything other than what she seems, and if she is harder on some students than others, what of it?
Alliance- Whatever side benefits her more.
Alignment- Neutral Evil
Strengths/Weaknesses-
[li]One of her greatest strengths is her persuasiveness. If ever another professor were to suspect her inner feelings toward Muggles, she could easily talk her way out of trouble. She uses her beauty and Blood Status as an arsenal against those who doubt her, smoothly evading detection. Even the headmaster does not doubt her, reminding one of Severus Snape (although he was truly good and Briallan is not). The DADA professor does not see a reason to use this skill against her students; the ones she prefers don't care about her treatment of the others and the ones she casts aside can prove nothing against her.
[/li][li]While not being a genius, her spellwork is exemplary. Her hatred does not stop with blood traitors and Mudbloods -- it extends to those who cast spells worse than she does, especially Squibs. The new Squib league disgusts her to no end.
Weaknesses:
[/li][li]Briallan sees nothing wrong with herself. That is, she has a superior attitude to others and refuses to see her flaws. When she looks in the mirror, she sees perfection although she is far from it. This snooty air can sometimes cause those around her to immediately dislike her, and while this doesn't sound bad to her, it may pose problems to her keeping her job.
[/li][li]In all honesty, Briallan is most likely borderline-insane. She thinks much differently than others but manages to cover it up a lot of the time. If one were to compare her to someone more commonly known, she would most likely be compared to Bellatrix Black.

Other Information-
History- Briallan was born in Ireland in the midst of the abolition of the death penalty (to be replaced with lengthy prison sentences). Riots were forming everywhere except in the little Wizarding neighborhood located in Athlone, since the Muggle jail system does not affect wizards. Nevertheless, Briallan's parents decided to forbid her from going outside alone. There had been no other wizarding families in their neighborhood that they conversed with, seeing as none of them were purebloods like themselves, so Briallan had few (if any) friends. This living style went on until she was at least six, but oddly enough, Briallan didn't seem to mind the seclusion. The money passed down through generations kept them living lavishly, and being an only child, she was spoiled with any gift she could ever want. The riots ended a few weeks before her seventh birthday and she was allowed to roam the neighborhood alone, but nowhere else. Even though her parents detested the half-bloods that lived around them, they knew that their daughter would not be at risk among them.
At this young age, Briallan already knew the ways of Blood Status: if you weren't pure, you were nothing. She was not yet old enough, however, to put the theory to use. Romping through the neighborhood one day, she came upon a young girl drawing with chalk on the sidewalk. Her name was Reita and she lived in the neighborhood over from Briallan's. The two made fast friends and from then on were together every day. One day, Briallan brought Reita home for dinner. Her father invited the girls in and gathered them around the table for roasted pheasant. A pureblood family had moved into the house next door, so Tadhg and Áine assumed that their daughter had made friends with the daughter. Little did they know that Reita was a Muggle.
Once the truth was exposed, the parents furiously scolded the red-headed girl, kicking the Muggle out of the house. Briallan wasn't sure what she had done but she vowed to do better and make her parents happy. They burned into her brain that any Muggle is disgusting, like a roach scuttling across the floor. Half-bloods and Muggle-borns were unacceptable. Over time, she acquired the mindset of a pureblood.
On her eleventh birthday, she received a letter from Hogwarts. Her first few years at Hogwarts were uneventful other than the fact that she was sorted into Slytherin; she kept her head down and her mouth shut. The start of her fifth year changed everything. A Muggle-born, Eisha Reticliff, was placed in Briallan's dormitory. She was a transfer student from Durmstrang. Most of the Slytherins kept their snide comments to themselves -- since her parents were extremely rich. Briallan, however, could not. She caused a ruckus, screaming 'Mudblood' at the girl and dashing for the Head of House. The Head of House shrugged, saying that if the Sorting Hat had put the girl in Slytherin despite her Blood Status, that was where she must stay. There was nowhere else for her to sleep.
She expressed her hatred of Muggle-borns and half-bloods freely through the rest of her schooling, but ceased to do so when she left Hogwarts. It wouldn't do for future employers to hear how she truly felt about 95% of the population of Britain. Briallan decided that she would apply for the job of Defense Against the Dark Arts and returned to the school, being hired just a few months later.
