Samantha walked around the Library that day helping people, putting books away, and generally having a normal day. Of course she doesn't spend as much time in the light or helping people that she use to. But she does like her job. She gets to read books whenever she likes and never has to pay for new ones. She learns something new everyday, and misses her friends more and more everyday. Finally it was her lunch break, of course she never eat on her lunch break only drank. She decided to sit on the steps of the library in front of the entrance to the library. It wasn't to sunny outside so her pale skin wouldn't stand out to much. She was wearing a black shirt with a black and white stripped button down shirt unbuttoned, some skinny black jeans, and her black and white Nike sneakers. She placed her black purse on the step and opened up a book about how to make magical food masterpieces. Of course she was a horrible cook, but no one had to know that. Her blonde hair blew with the wind.

Jack had attended a reading in the library, not on official business but more because it was his time to take the children for the hols and Annie’s favorite author had been holding said book signing and reading. Please Daddy can we go? She’d pleaded, putting her best puppy-dog expression on her face, clutching several books by the omgdadbestwriterever! to her chest. There was just something about thirteen year old girls that pulled their unwary parents in and twisted them around their tiny little pinkies. So he’d agreed, and even brought George along.
The teenaged boy had declined his sister’s pleas to listen to the author read her newest book, instead wandering off to find his favorite section in the huge library. Jack, however, had been forced to sit and listen to Katie Henderson read to scores of excited thirteen year old girls the story of Angel, a winged girl and her flock as they got into escapades around the world. He was nearly comatose by the time the reading was finished, and gladly paid for a book and signature as the necessary means to get his starry-eyed daughter away from the library.
They found George and left the library; Annie skipping and chattering about the book, not noticing her father’s bare-bones replies in her excitement, and George having a hard time seeing where he was walking over the pile of books in his arms. It was perhaps not unexpected then, when he tripped, books falling everywhere as he started his tumble down the steps. Jack reached out, grabbing his son by the arm, yanking him back with a little difficulty. Once their balance was restored, Jack looked down to see a young woman, who was perhaps disgruntled by George’s clumsy actions towards her hapless purse, which lay at the bottom of the stairs among the heap of scattered books.
“Whoops.” George muttered.

Samantha had been so into her book that she didn't even hear the people that where coming towards her. Once she felt the person knock into her she tryed to get out of the way, but instead she only got more into the way and all the books he was holding and all the book that she had flew to the ground below. She sighed in disbelief and unpatience while looking down at the ground where the books had landed. She then saw her purse down there with them. She had totally forgotten that her purse had been sitting on the step next to her. She quickly ran down and picked her purse up, then started picking the rest of the books up. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have sat there. I guess I just wanted to read my book so much that I didn't pay attention to where I was sitting." Samantha said not looking up to even see who she had been in the way of. She only hoped that they didn't see how pale she was. Most people run away from her when they see how pale she is, knowing that only vampires are that pale.

“I’m afraid it was our fault, for not looking.” Jack said, bending to help gather the books. He nudged his youngest son, who was standing there looking rather mortified and uncertain and rather like a statue. George took the books from the lady, a hesitant smile on his face at the return of his books. Jack retained possession of a stack of books, reaching out a hand to help the young lady up.
“You know how young’uns are, when they get excited.” He joked, his warm smile breaking the tension, and suddenly Annie was chattering again, both at her brother ‘how could you be so clumsy, haha!’ and at the woman, assuming that everyone was interested in her favorite book series. ‘omgdidyougotothebookreading, IdidanditwasgreatIevengottotalktothewritershe’ssoawesome--’
“Breath, Annie,” Jack ordered, laughing. His younger daughter would talk the ears off a stump, if allowed.

Before Sammy could stand up and give the books that she had picked up to the person that had bumped into her, she heard someone come towards her and start helping her pick them up. Of course when she stood up with the, what looked like, twenty heavy books that only a strong man could carry, a man standing in front of her took them. He thanked her and apologized for running into her. At the sound of his voice, she knew who he was....The Minister of Magic. She couldn't believe it, The Minister of Magic had bumped into her. Would he throw her into Azkaban? Would he kill her right there? Then she brought herself back to earth. At the sound of a little girls voice Sammy looked up to see a young boy and younger girl looking at them and talking to the Minister like they knew him. They must have been his kids.
Sammy would have listen to what the little girl had to say but she saw that the boy was standing still like a statue and staring at her. What was wrong with him? Was he that embarassed for bumping into her like that? Or maybe he saw something odd. Then she realized that it was her that he was gawking at. She looked down to see that just enough sun had come out and was shining on her VERY pale skin. Sammy quickly shuffled into a shady spot and then turned to face the Minister. Maybe he hadn't notice yet. But would his son say something? Would his son get scared like ever other person out there? Sammy could only hope for the best. She would have smiled back up at him, but her fangs would most certainly have shown.

Annie breathed. She took several large, gulping breaths, her smile undaunted. She shoved George, who was following their father done the steps. “Hey dope, watch where you’re going!” She teased, like all youngest children she was unable to keep from taking shots at her elder siblings, particularly when they made mistakes.
“Jack, and these are my children (two of the little terrors anyway) George and Annie.” Jack picked up a couple of errant items, they looked like they had come from her purse. After nearly twenty years of marriage and with an adult daughter, he had plenty of experience with what went into purses-- even the most unlikely items (his wife’s purse often held potion ingredients and once his daughter’s had sported a live plant) seemed to make their way inside.
“HI!” Annie said, not in the least shy.

Sammy watched as the daughter teased the boy and watched as the boy said nothing and walked down the stairs. Why was it that he said nothing? Why was it that he walked down the stairs towards her? Did she get it wrong, did he not see he pale skin? Either way she needed to start acting like she was normal, except for smiling of course she didn't want to show her fangs.
Sammy looked down at the girl, who was now finally breathing normally. "Hi." Sammy said to her, then looked up at the minister as he gave off all their names. "It's nice to meet you all. My name is Samantha Burns." Sammy said making sure to stay in the shady spot and not offer her hand to shake. If he felt her cold skin he would know. Sammy didn't know what would happen if The Minister of Magic found out that she was a vampire. Then Sammy realized that Jack had something in his hand that was from her purse. It was a vial of blood that she always kept with her, just in case being around people started to get to her. But how would she get it from him without him figuring out what it was. She would have to say that it was a potion, but would he fall for it? "Oh you found my potion vial. It must have fallen out of my purse. May I have it back please?" Sammy asked him putting her hand out, in the shade of course.

"Oh you found my potion vial. It must have fallen out of my purse. May I have it back please?"
“Cut it out, Anna-Banana!” George finally struck back, jostling his sister as she playfully shoved him again.
“Here.” Jack shoved the potion vial at the young lady and turned to his children. “Anna! George! Cut it out right now, or we won’t go get ice cream!” Jack gathered the last of the books, giving Anna a look. She stopped sidling towards George, putting an innocent look on her face. George just readjusted his precarious grip on his books, looking sullen.
“Look, I’m sorry miss,” Jack said to Samantha. “It looks like we’ll have to dash. Enjoy your day, and try not to get run over again.” The Minister left, looking rather more like a harassed father than the English Minister of Magic.

Sammy was to happy to get her vial of blood back without him noticing that she didn't realize how much the kids where making him agrivated. She waved goodbye to them as they left, then turned back to the steps. She had about 10 minutes left of her break. So she sat back down where she was before, pulled her book back out and continued reading. Once break was over she headed back in.
~After Work~ Sammy left work that night really worn out. She just wanted to get home, finish off her bottle of blood and head to bed. With this running through her mind, she waved goodbye to her co-workers and started walking towards the park. Her appartment was on the other side of the park. Of course it was never a good thing to walk through the park at night but this time she was the monster. Of course she wouldn't be waiting in the bushes for anyone or for that fact stopping anywhere at all. She would just walk through quickly, then walk across the street and into her appartment building. She had done this night after night, nothing ever happened to her.
